Moroccan-Style Stewed Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I wanted so badly to like this. It got so many positive reviews and I love slow cooker recipes. The only thing I changed was omitting the green pepper because I did not have one on hand, and I added a little bit less raisins because my hubby is not a big fan. Even with less raisins the dish turned out way, way to sweet. I am usually a fan of sweeter dishes, but this was just too much. My husband and I each had a small bowl. Even though I found it to sweet, I did like the flavors. I may use the spices as an inspiration for a modified version of this recipe.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
This was extremely good. I had never made or even tasted white chili before, and I loved it. I added cheddar instead of Monterey Jack, because it is what I had on hand. Mine did come out a bit thin, more like soup than chili, but that didn't make me love it any less. Next time I may add corn starch to thicken and omit the cheese in the chili and just sprinkle it on the top instead. This will become a regular dinner around here.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
This recipe is delicious. I followed the ingredients exactly, the only change was to follow the suggestion of another reviewer and mix the cornmeal and milk and let them sit together for a few minutes. I baked mine in muffin tins with liners. They turned out so good. Sweet but not too much. My go to recipe from now on.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
These are the best ginger cookies I have ever had. I made these mostly for my husband who loves big, soft cookies, but I ended up eating almost as many as him. Per other reviewer's suggestions, I substituted brown sugar for the white sugar, and orange juice for the water. Then I topped with a little raw sugar, just so they would look pretty, but it really didn't make much of a difference at all. I got three dozen cookies out of this recipe. I will be making these again very soon.

Tantalizing Turkey and Blue Cheese Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
These meatballs are delicious. I don't have a food processor and was feeling too lazy to chop by hand, so I threw everything in the blender. The result was very soupy, but it did not effect the meatballs at all. When everything came together it still seemed quite wet, but I think that is what makes these so tender. My husband is not a blue cheese fan, but based off the other reviews I decided to make these and not tell him about it until after he ate them. The blue cheese really adds a creaminess and a little something extra without all the funk you usually associate with blue cheese. There are now our go-to meatballs.

Baked Cheddar Bacon Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
I saved this recipe for my husband to make to celebrate a friend's birthday while I was at work. When I came home, the house smelled delicious and half of it was already eaten by them. It is that good. I will definitely be bringing this to my next potluck.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
I made these for my husband's birthday and they were so good I had to make them again the next week. I subbed cinnamon apple sauce for 1/2c of oil and one cup each of white and brown sugar. I also added a few gratings of nutmeg. I made these into cupcakes. When I filled the muffin tins 1/2 full these cooked in about 12-15 minutes. I accidentally overfilled some and they turned out like big muffins after cooking about 18 minutes. I made these with my oven at 325 (I think my oven may run hot so I automatically turn it down a little when baking anything). My husband and all of his family loved them. The cream cheese frosting is excellent. This is one to keep on hand for sure.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This is so good and easy. I made this for a potluck at work and everybody loved it. It's a really inexpensive way to feed a group. I mixed this with Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce recipe from this site and some buns to make sandwiches. So so good.

Best Lemonade Ever

This really is the best. The sugar/juice/water ratio is perfect. Also leaving the pulp in there is what makes this so good.

Thai Pineapple Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
This recipe is very good. Red curry is one of my favorite things to get when I go out for Thai food, so now this is one of my favorite dishes to make at home. I used about 1.5 tablespoons of red curry paste, as the kind I had was very condensed. The only things I did differently were using only 1 red bell pepper. I like red better and it saved me money to use 1 whole pepper instead of half of two. I also did not add fish sauce because I have been unable to find any at my grocery store. Very delicious and creamy with the right amount of heat. My husband loves it as well.

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
This is the only homemade Alfredo recipe I have ever tried and it is sooooo good. The only thing I change is adding a little minced garlic instead of garlic salt. I add shrimp in during the last few minutes of cooking and it turns out so wonderful. Even better than shrimp fettuccine Alfredo from the olive garden, which has long been a favorite of mine.

Mexican Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Very yummy. This is a recipe that you can play around with. My husband and I made tacos earlier in the week and made extra seasoned beef keeping this dish in mind to have a few days later. That made this even easier to put together. We have made several variations on this. Sometimes we add a layer of re-fried beans below the meat. We also add sliced black olives and green onions to the top of the cheese. We also add a dollop of sour cream on top before eating. Delicious.

Banana Muffins with a Crunch

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
These muffins were very tasty. I added chocolate chips to about half of them and they were soooooo good. My only small criticism would be that they seemed to dry out more quickly than other muffins I had made that same day and stored the same way. Next time I will probably store them differently.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
I have found my new favorite muffins. I made a batch of these along with banana and bran muffins for my co-workers and these were the first to go. The only thing I changed was substituting vegetable oil for olive oil. I followed the advice of another reviewer and was sure not to over-mix the filling. They weren't completely filled, as alot of the filling ended up sort of coating the top of the muffins, but there was a definite little bit of filling in the center of each one. Delicious!

Six Week Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
I scaled this recipe back the first time I tried them, but when the weather cools down I will definitely make a whole batch of batter to keep some on hand for chilly mornings. My husband loves bran muffins and he said these were the best he's ever had. Thank you for this recipe!

Birthday Bones

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
I halved this recipe because my dog is quite small. I didn't have any bone shaped cookie cutters so I ended up pressing the balls of dough with a fork and making little cookies. My dog loved them. I gave a bag to my mother-in-law and her neighbor and their dogs loved them too. These would be great to put in a little package and give away at Christmas.

Adobo Chicken with Ginger

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
This chicken is so delicious and easy. I played with the amounts and ended up with 1/2 cup soy sauce and 1/2 cup red wine vinegar, plus 1/2 cup water. This is a great recipe that can be easily changed to suit how intense you want the flavors to be. The chicken was extremely moist and was even good as left overs.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2007
Oh my gosh, it really is the best lasagne. I took advise from other reviwers and ommited the salt. I also soaked the noodles in hot water. I only cooked the sauce for about 45 minutes and assembled the lasagne and let it sit in the fridge overnight for the flavors to marry. I also had left over sauce, but I just froze it to use over pasta for a future night. So good! I also added extra cheese because the hubby and I like alot cheese. My new standby lasagne recipe.

Good recipe to build from. The only change I made was adding chicken and artichoke hearts. I've made it the original way too. Very good and budget friendly.
