Gary's Turkey Burritos

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
We added hot sauce to a bit more flavor. We also made extra and froze them for later! For freezing individually wrap each one in plastic wrap then put all burritos in a large plastic bag and freeze. To microwave unwrap one burrito and wrap in a paper towel and place on a plate. Cook for 4 min on 50% power, flip over and return to microwave at 50% for 2 addl minutes.

Used ham and 4 pieces of sliced cheddar cheese cut up (cause that is all I had!). Took 45 minutes to bake. Nothing crazy but good.

Spicy Black and Red Bean Soup

I took other's advise and added cumin. garlic powder, chili powder. However it needs salt. Was a little surprised by the sweetness of the first bite but it soon grew on me. Nice soup.

Watermelon Martini

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
I do not have a juicer or food processer so as I cut the watermelon up I saved the rind with a bit extra watermelon not cut off it. Then I used the back of a spoon and smooshed the watermelon left on the rind as the liquid dripped off into a bowl. Then I did strain it with a small metal strainer. I omitted the salt and only used the sugar on the rim (just sounded odd to me). I added a splash more vodka because I like it stronger. It made 4 martinis for me. (YES I said me!) Very good!

Graham Crackers

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
3 because it would have not worked if I did not double the milk like others said. I should have doubled the vanilla. I used this recipe to make smore cookies (from another recipe) for the 4th of July. Melted 1 cup of chocolate chips and 4 Tbs of butter and set in fridge for 30 min. Then softened marshmallow fluff in the micro for 15 seconds and spread it on to make smore cookies. (Store in fridge)

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
OK OK.... so I have now made this 3 times and felt confused by all of the ideas and advice everyone was giving. I have tried a ton of things and have it figured out.... I make a batch and 1/2 of the filling and it is a perfect amount of filling. Also, after trying many different techniques for ingredients and what to add first I went back to the original recipe and it worked just as good as all the other ways everyone was recommending. Finally I whipped each egg 7 minutes and no grain- be patient- it’s worth it! Try not to make this a bigger deal that it is! It just comes down to needing a bit more filling and a lot of time in the mixer. But all is good! And the pie is wonderful! Crowd pleaser!

Pumpkin Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Used Ginger snaps for crust -I don't like pecans so I used 1/2 cup more ginger snaps. Next time I will leave in pan in fridge for a few hours before I remove it from the pan- it deflated a bit. Great flavor- i was concerned about the lemon but it made the cake!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Awesome flavor! I followed some suggestions. I added a full bottle of beer, swtiched a can of chili beans with a of kidney beans, used brown sugar. I cheated and used a can of chopped green chiles which took down the spice a notch. The major change was I only used 1lb of ground chuck and 2lbs of Jennie-O spicy turkey sausage. We made corn bread muffins instead of the Frito's.
