About this Cook
I am a 46 yr old mother of two - adult kids now who still live at home with us. With a family of four all working different hours, meals can sometimes be a challenge. My biggest challenge to posting on this site is that at this point in my life, I rarely measure ingredients but 'go by eye' so I will do my best to convert this into measurements.
My favorite things to cook
I have always liked to cook just about anything - I baked, made candies etc when I was younger alot - I find these days I am more into quick, easy and delicious. I also cook for two days and feeze for a months worth of meals & some desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Lebanese food is a big favorite of ours, as well as traditional holiday meals.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say my canned salsa since people have wanted to buy it from me or pay me to make them some - which I end up giving to them instead. Also, my pancakes - which are a tad different from cakey pancakes - my husband won't eat any other pancakes. Baking goods as well.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make ravioli by hand in my early 20's ( young and ambitious - lol) It took sooooooo long and no matter how thin I rolled it, the pasta still came out too thick. It scarred me, I have never tried to make homemade pasta again (except manicotti - which is a crepe) ha ha ha One day I will get a pasta machine and try again

Fabulous Homemade Bread
Very good bread - This one will become a standard for bread and buns for us. My niece who visits often is Vegan so I love that this has no egg, milk product or animal fats yet is super delicious. Thanks for sharing this recipe !

Clone of a Cinnabon
I just made these today and they are awesome. I did not use my bread machine but did use my food processor with my dough hook instead of kneeding by hand. It's best to add liquids to flour when using your food processor To do this, first stir in yeast to dissolve in warm milk (110 degrees) with sugar and salt. Let sit 5-10 mins then add melted margarine and beaten eggs to milk/yeast and stir. Slowly pour into flour already in food processor and process while adding liquid just until the dough forms a ball. I preheat my oven to 200 and then turn it off to create a warm, dry place for the dough then placed it in a greased bowl with damp cloth or paper towel covering it for 1 hour to rise. I used the method of combining the butter and sugar/cinnamon into a spread - although we did find it harder to spread this on the dough it did not all leak to the bottom on the pan when baked so the rolls are full of the ooey gooey cinnamon goodness :0) thanks for the great recipe !
