Not bad, neccisarily, just forgetable.

Seven Layer Mixed Up Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
I was surprised by how much I like this recipe. Also, surprised that I'd never thought of this myself. Everything I love about traditional 7 layer salad, simplified, and ready to serve in just an hour. Brilliant. I add hard boiled eggs, and cashews to mine. Sometimes, I miss the iceberg lettuce, so I use this as a topping to lettuce.

Always A Winner Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2007
Alright, here we go. I read all of the reviews of this recipe, took them all into account, then ended up making the recipe exactly as written, anyway, and here's what I came up with. Yes, there's alot of paprika, but I like paprika, and the odd color only adds intrigue. Yes there are alot off eggs, and pickles, and yes, an abudence of celery salt, and I'll give you that you don't really get a strong shrimp taste. But! Put all of those factors together, throw 'em all in a bowl, and add two, (yes, two) cups of mayo, and you've got yourself a potato salad that's off-beat, mysterious, and strangely unimitable. At the end, my guests were eating directly out of the bowl. Yum.

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2007
I like to take the butter mixture, and melt a couple tablespoons full. Then I toss it with some bread cubes, and bake at 425 for 15-20 minutes, stirring once or twice. Makes the best croutons, and they keep well in a zip loc bag for about a week.

Cheesy Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
Wow, what a great recipe! I added more cheese than called for, and also used half american, and half sharp cheddar. This chowder seemed to be screaming for a sprinkle of cayenne pepper, and I'm glad I listened. Really gave it an extra kick. As other reviewers have stated, this is a very versatile recipe, that begs to be customized by substituting your favorite veggies and cheeses, and I'm sure that I will make variations on this for years to come.

No-Cream Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2006
Fantastic! A really great recipe to use fresh summer produce from the farmer's market. I used mushrooms in place of the red pepper, and used quartered baby carrots. I also used double the green beans, and asparagus and added extra cheese. Came out perfect! Tastes even better the next day.

Mexican Botana Platter

The nachos were really good, but the leftover meat mixture was fantastic over spanish rice, with some minced, fresh cilantro, jalapeno, and a dollop of sour cream.

Prune and Olive Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2006
Sorry, I just did not like this at all. Maybe cutting the sugar in half would be an improvement, as I found it to be way too sweet.

South Texas Style Tartar Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2006
I loathe sweet tartar sauce. Loathe it. This is perfect. This replaces my old favorite tartar sauce, which I used to think was perfect. I was wrong. This is it. And, it gets better after a day or two. Yow.

Pork Sausage and Cabbage Pitas

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2006
I used hot italian sausage, and after reading the other reviews, only added one teaspoon of red pepper flakes. I added brown deli mustard to the pitas, and served with kettle chips. Absolute heaven. Thanks, Holly!
