Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: May 30, 2014
This recipe is amazing as is! It is incredibly difficult to find a recipe that uses 7 basic ingredients - including water! For those who had runny pies, you have to let the liquid simmer (as the directions say) after you bring it to a boil. Then it will thicken up. A delicious pie that everyone will love. Guaranteed!

Hearty Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
This was the best vegetable lasagne I have ever eaten! I added parsley to the ricotta mix - this was the only tweak I made. Thanks for sharing!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
Although it is a bit crumbly as others have mentioned, it is still delicious! I took the advice of others and baked the cornbread in a muffin pan instead of a round cake pan, so that we could have individual servings without any cutting. Thanks for sharing, bluegirl!

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
I did everything as written in the recipe. The only thing I wished I had done differently was to break up the lasagne sheets more because I'm thinking that my crockpot was smaller than the one used in the original recipe. Some of the noodles stuck together even though I mixed everything well. Other than this, delicious!

Slow Cooker Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
I thought that this dish turned out very well! I used all of the ingredients except omitted the celery and onion (forgot to purchase) and substituted bacon for the ham. Because I used bacon, I also did not add any lard. I like to leave my bell pepper in halves instead of chopping. After the beans have been cooking for hours, the bell peppers broke up into nice, bite-sized pieces so it saved me a bit of time. Delicious!

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
Delicious despite using flour instead of cornstarch because I had none to use. The recipe is a bit time consuming with having to thin slice the beef, lay out to dry out, and then deep fry; but worth the trouble!

Campfire Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
I was looking for a recipe using my fresh French green beans. I came upon this one using canned beans, but decided to try it anyways. It turned out to be quite tasty. The cook time was a bit longer, but worth it!

Mexican Baked Fish

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2012
I was all ready to prepare this with cod, but then realized that my fresh cod was a bit smelly. Instead of bagging my dinner idea completely, I decided to make this recipe using chicken. I also couldn't find any corn chips, so I used cheesy Doritos. Lastly, I had some leftover Mexican rice from dinner two days beforehand and threw it into the baking dish. It was very tasty! I will file this recipe away and use cod as written some day soon. I am determined to try this recipe as it was originally written. However, the teeny additions were yummy!

Mushroom Rice

I omitted the parsley because I didn't have any on hand and used vegetable broth because I was out of chicken broth. It was still delicious!

Banana Bread

Delicious! I made it as is. It was moist the first day and all the days afterwards. Thanks for the recipe! UPDATE: I made it again with wheat flour and added walnuts. Still delicious! (About 20-25 mintes to bake.)

Spaghetti 'n' Meat Sauce

My husband does not like beef and I didn't have any minced chicken or turkey on hand, but I followed everything else with the recipe. (Oh, I did add fresh sliced mushrooms!) The sauce was delicious - we both enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing!

Quick and Easy Sauteed Spinach

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
The first time, I made it as is and it was delicious!! I had forgotten that the amount of cooked spinach is about a fourth of what you wash! So I quickly made more and used fresh minced garlic instead of powder. Just as delicious!

Frank's Favorite Slow-Cooker Thai Chicken

My husband and I loved this recipe! The only changes I made was adding a bit more peanut butter and using more coconut milk - as stated by a couple of reviewers. Oh yeah, I did use chicken legs and breasts because that is what I had on hand. It was very tasty!

I have made this numerous times - as is and with unexpected substitutions. Sometimes I don't have fresh tomatoes and use stewed tomatoes instead or I saute the chopped veggies first. Each time, it is delicious!

Very simple cookies to make and delicious, too! The only thing I changed was I omitted the butterscotch chips, but only because I didn't have any.

Peanut Butter Chews

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
went looking for a dessert that could be made with regular pantry items and found this one. Fast and delicious! Instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips, I melted a large dark chocolate bar in the microwave and used it to spread on the top of the chews that I had spread out in a cookie tray (as suggested by many). Thank you for submitting!
