S.O.P.P.

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2014
This is a good starter recipe. I followed someone else's suggestion to bake in the oven. I did brown the sausage in one pan and the potatoes and veggies in another...it gives a greater flavor. I added a lot of garlic powder, black pepper and a jar of Ragu double cheese sauce for my personal preference. Baked covered in greased casserole dish on 350 for 30 mins. Thank you Cowboysjenn for this recipe!

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2013
Okay, I followed this recipe exactly and my cake was flat. I baked in 2 9in rounds. They rose and looked fluffy in the oven, but when I took them out, they got flat. The flavor was good, but was disappointed with the results. I ended up cutting the cakes and made a trifle instead.

Southwest Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
Just made this dish with the added onions, garlic and chili powder. I'm glad I did so but it was still kind off bland for me and my husband. Just seemed like it needed something more. I will probably make again but with more seasonings next time. Overall, it's an okay meal.

Bacon-Roasted Chicken with Potatoes

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
This dish is definitely not for the healthy eaters! Very good recipe...didn't change much except for the potatoes, all I had were russets. I followed an advice and put my wrapped thighs on a rack above the potatoes. Turned out delish!! Thank you for a dinner change!

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
This was very easy to prepare! I used sweet onions, fresh tomatoes, added cilantro, diced 3 garlic cloves and only used 1/2 cup dressing. It was very good the next day but I had to add 1/4c fresh lime juice as my personal preference... it really brightened up the flavors. Over-all, great recipe and it is addictive!!!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
Great recipe!! I did add 1/4 cup brown sugar, along with some cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg to the batter. Also used oil instead of butter to add some moisture. Followed someone's review to use half white and half brown sugar in the crumb mix. I baked 48 muffins and brought to a church fellowship.... it went so fast that I felt bad for those who didn't get one! Will definitely make more next time. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Lemon Meringue Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
This is a good recipe! I only gave 4 stars because I didn't add the extra 1/3 cup of water which would indicate why other reviewers had to add more cornstarch. I reduced the sugar as my personal preference and added 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar to the egg whites. I also spread the meringue on the filling when it's still very warm to cook the bottom. Other than my personal changes, this recipe is better than most! I would recommend watching the video of How To Make Lemon Meringue Pie for anyone who's confused. It really helps!

Strawberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
This turned out very good. I did add a tsp. of vanilla to the cream mixture. Also, sieved the strawberries after running through the processor (don't like the seeds in my cheesecake). Only needed one bag of strawberries. I made two 9 in. pies and baked for about 35 mins on 300. One for me and one to give. Soooooo yummy!

Beef and Biscuit

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I expected this recipe to be tastier, but I had to add extra garlic and chili powder. I could've done without the bottom biscuit layer. This dish was edible, but not a pleaser.

Pizza Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
Great starter recipe! I used ground sausage instead of beef and added black olives. It still came out a little dry even though I added more sauce. Definitely "ADD MORE" sauce to this recipe, almost double. Overall, good dish!!

Red Velvet Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
I was almost scared to make this cake, but my sister requested it for her birthday and I couldn't say no. I made the cake twice in one day. I don't know what happened to the first batch but I followed other reviews to use 1c oil instead of shortening and the cake sunked in the middle. Made the second batch and used 1 stick of butter and 1/2 cup oil instead of shortening, batter was thicker and fluffy. Turned out moist and great consistency.

Good recipe! It was real greasy the first time I made it, but the second time I used lean ground beef and added some beef bullion. It was great!

Thought I'd do a sample batch before making these for Christmas and added tid bits of butter I grinded up w/ some of the mix. It helped take away some of the dryness.

Microwave Oven Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2006
I never made peanut brittle before so this is my first! What a great and very quick recipe! I did have to experiment w/ this for my 1200 watt oven. I cooked the sugar and corn syrup for 4 mins. Then added dry roasted peanuts and cooked for 1 1/2 mins. Added the butter and vanilla and cooked for a minute more. It turned out perfect!!! Thanks Linda C.!!!

Jiffy Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
I needed a recipe to feed 5 kids (3 of them as guests) so I was pressed for time! I did brown the beef w/ the onions and added season salt plus garlic powder. Milk instead of water. I layared potatoes, then 1/2 of beef, plus added 1 cup of frozen green beans, rest of beef and baked at 400 for 45-55 mins...topped w/ cheese last 5 mins of baking. Kids loved it!!
