Pork Carnitas

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2015
Wow, is the word that comes in mind to best describe these carnitas! I made the recipe exactly as printed. My only change was to add about three tablespoons of cilantro to the broth while boiling the pork. We had a 3 & 1/2 pork butt for four of us. Not much left over! Thank you Nette for the great recipe. This goes into the keeper book for sure.

Chuckwagon Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
This recipe did exactly what I needed it to do! What to do with a can of red beans for a side dish in a hurry? Nothing fancy but pretty good flavor. Like one other reviewer said, "Save the bean juice." You will definitely need it. I made these in 10 minutes using pre cooked bacon. I think I would have preferred to leave out the dry mustard, or at least cut it back a little, as that flavor seemed to dominate the others just by a tad. Maybe a tbsp of molasses would add even more flavor. I might try that next time. Overall, the beans were good, easy to make, and on the table for a great side with hamburgers. Thanks for the recipe Whino!

Great soup. I made this tonight accompanied with Marian Collins' Baked Teriyaki Chicken and Jostrander's Fried Rice. Absolutely excellent and much cheaper than going out for Chinese food. I followed the recipe exactly as written and it was fantastic, and oh so easy to prepare. Thanks "akhowell" a for sure keeper!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2012
This is a keeper. Like others have done, I used 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar. I baked as directed and it came out perfect. The entire family agreed! Also, I lined the baking dish with foil for easy clean up. Thanks Marian for this easy and delicious recipe!

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2012
Excellent fish recipe. My wife loves fish but I am not a fan of it. That being said, I made this tonight for dinner. We both loved it! I prepared this exactly as written. Very light and absolutely no fishy taste. Served with fresh spinach, wild rice, and warm French bread. The dill sauce pushed this over the top. All you guys out there who have steak while your significant other has fish, trust me this recipe will change your mind about having something different. A++

Fried Butterflied Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I prepared this recipe for our Thanksgiving dinner as an appitizer. These shrimp were "gobbled" up in 2 mintres!!! The only changes I made was to use less water. I prepared them using 1 & 1/2 cups of water and 2 cups of cornstarch. I also used Panko bread crumbs for the secoond dip. Excellent dish and fun to serve. Thank you Joy.

Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
What a fantastic dip. We doubled the recipe and served before Christmas dinner. A big hit with everyone. I would use a glass pie plate so the dip can be reheated in the microwave. One jar of sauce will easily cover two packages of cream cheese. I also tossed in a handful of yellow cheddar cheese for a little color. This is a great recipe and for sure a keeper. Thanks.

I made this last night and followed the recipe as written. Absolutly fantastic. Easy to prepare. The only problem, no leftovers! Our family polished all the patties off. Served with fresh green beans, mashed potatoes, and dinner rolls. Perfect. Thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper in the recipe box!
