I immigrated to Canada from England in 1972 with my parents and two older brothers. I am married to a wonderful man who loves my cooking. We have two dogs and two cats.
My favorite things to cook
Main courses and desserts. I sometimes will have a meal or dessert at a restaurant and then I like to try to duplicate it at home. I also like to BBQ during the summer. I enjoy making comfort food when the weather gets cooler. Soups, stews, chili, turkey pot pie, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I still cook some of my Mum's recipes we had growing up. Cottage Pie, English Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, full English breakfasts, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, hot cross buns at Easter, mincemeat tarts at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I'd have to say it's my ability to make Yorkshire pudding. My parents are always amazed how good they turn out.
My cooking tragedies
I've had a few over the years, but nothing too major.
