I'm a cheerleading coach "daylighting" as a secretary. I recently started to cook at home more often. I have fallen in love with All Recipes. I am here daily, looking for new recipes or updates to old favorites. My mom wasn't the greatest cook growing up, but she has gotten much better. A few of my "staple" meals are ones that my Dad created or made often for us. I enjoy spending time in the kitchen trying to create new favorites.
My favorite things to cook
I'm getting alot better with my cooking, I have had more "triumphs" than "tradgedies" recently. I have however mastered "comfort foods" like, chilli, shepards pie, meatloaf, shrimp creole, american chop suey, sausage & peppers, baked macaroni & cheese. I have added homemade pizza and pizza dough to my repertoire, my secret.... put fresh pesto on the dough before the sauce or toppings. It makes all the difference in the world!!!!
I don't know what I would do without my crock pot, bread machine or my George Forman grill. These are staple machines in my kitchen!!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents always host an Easter Brunch on Easter morning. I hope that I can continue the tradition someday of baking the danish struedle, the fritata, and coloring & hiding the eggs. Everyone looks forward to coming to my parents house & it is the one time of year you are assursed great food, fun times & pictures of the kids (3rd generation now) decked out in thier Easter bonnets, hunting for eggs.
My cooking triumphs
Pizza is my new truimph, I was afraid I wouldn't master this fine art, but I seemed to have pulled it off. Who knew that an Irish gal, could please the Italians with her Pizza???
My cooking tragedies
I had the fire department at my new apartment 3 months after we moved in because I was broiling steaks and left them to cook for too long. As soon as the firefighters showed up they asked who it was that couldn't cook? Oops, I haven't attempted that ever again!
