Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
OMG!!! I live in Israel, and we don’t have any biscuits mixes, and kfc over here doesn’t make their famous biscuits which I love! It’s now 1am, and I know I’m crazy, but I scaled the recipe down to one (!) and made one delicious biscuit!! I used butter and mixed it all with my hands. Added about 1/3-1/4 cup of milk (not sure) Yummy!!!!!!!

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
I hate blue cheese! So I made this with iceberg lettuce and olive oil croutons for my boyfriend, and I took a little bit of the salad to taste- even I liked it.

Perfect Sushi Rice

I lost my own recipe for sushi rice, and was a bit worried about the vegetable oil part, but it was very very good- thank you! Will definitely use again!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
Amazing! I made a few changes according to other reviewers: added 1/4 cup rolled oats, dried the beans, squeezed out the fluids and freezed them a night before cooking. Also, I used only 1/2 tsp cumin because I don't really like it, didn't have any hot sauce so skipped it, added 1 shredded carrot (drained) and doubled the garlic. I did not use a food processor but a brown mixer, which left chunks of the black beans- I think this was a good call because the burger did not feel like a ball of refried beans, like other reviewers said.. Next time I'm probably going to triple the recipe and freeze them to have great veggie burgers on hand..!

Raspberry Iced Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
I made so many changes, that I'm not even sure it's the same recipe! Anyway, these changes where made for 7 servings (so I can make 2 liters, metric system) 7 regular tea bags, 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries (a few blueberries also found their way inside), 4 teaspoons honey (I hate overly sweet taste, and always order my ice tea unsweetened...) and no lemonade mix, just about a teaspoon of lemon juice. I brought the water to boil, cooked the everything together for 3 min (the raspberries were defrosted prior) and then let it sit for another 4. YUM YUM YUM!!!

Oatmeal Gems

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
Next time I would use less clove, less raisins and more nuts. They are really good except after making them I decided I wanted crispy cookies this time, but that of course has nothing to do with the recipe, and I didn’t like the strong taste of clove. Oh, I also added some white chocolate chips. Will definitely try again!

Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Chunks

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I made these cookies with a regular cheap peanut butter that was was sweater than the regular skippy type brand. I'm sure that with a better peanut butter these will come out much better- will try again, and SOON. Oh, and BTW, no one had a chance to taste them because i finished them all!

Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2006
I usually only try 4-5 start recipes, but I saw that the bad ratings this recipe got was for being too heavy and chewy, and not enough sweet, but that was what I was looking for. I made a few changes: instead of brown sugar I used regular sugar, a cup of oatmeal, only one banana (I was worried a little bit about this but because I’m not crazy over bananas I actually felt the taste!) two teaspoons of vanilla and one cup of peanut butter. It came out sweeter then I expected and overall it was pretty good!

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2006
I used a chunk of parmesan that started to get rough, so it didn’t fully melt. I liked the flavor and for a quick meal to make for dinner when I get home at 12 AM its perfect!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I'm not rating this recipe as it came out and I want to leave the avarage, because I did not have Cream of Tartar, and had to use the lemon thing from the common subtitutions section- It came out awful, I just want to warn others not to do what I did!

Ann's Shrimp Etouffee

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2006
Even though my family rated this 5, I still didn't taste anything extra-ordinary that would make want to have this again, especialy with the long cooking time. I don't know, maybe it's due to all of the changes I made- used chicken broth as recomended (and yes, I scaled it down) added 1 tbs tomato paste and used 2lb shrimps and 1/2lb scallops (which was my first time cooking scallops- and they came out delicious!) Also, as spices used , besides the ones in the recipe, cayene pepper and a lil bit of chili powder for a kick. over all was good and enjoyed it. Thank you for a very good recipe!

Applesauce Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2006
I’m not sure what applesauce bars are SUPPOSED to be like, but I have never tried it before, and even though I really like the TASTE, I’m not so sure about the texture- it definitely is very moist, maybe too moist. I didn’t have any pumpkin pie spice so I used a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of clove and a pinch of nutmeg. I don’t think I’ll try these again…

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2006
I'm eating them now, about 6 hours after baking, and they are still very chewy. after reading the reviews I cut down the suger to 1 cup and used only white suger (didnt have any brown) and instead of 2 cups of chocolate chips, I used only half a cup- and for me that was enough! I also used milk chocolate chips becuase i didnt notice "semisweet". I put only 100g butter (didnt notice, thats about 2/4 cup) Over all they came out pretty good and I really like the consistency. one thing- they have a slight taste of eggs.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2006
I don’t know what I did wrong, maybe it was listening the other reviewers.. I cut the recipe in half so I can taste them before I make a big batch for company (I am so glad I did!!!) And as I read, I doubled the egg, used regular milk instead of buttermilk, but didn’t add any sour cream. Instead of semisweet chocolate chips I used white chocolate chips. The taste was ok- and the choice of white chocolate was good- but the muffin got stuck to the paper and it’s a bummer to eat it. Also, because the batter was so watery, the chips sank down. The last thing is that the outside is really oily. I’m not sure if I’ll try these again.
