Blueberry Breakfast Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2013
This was exactly what I was craving! Left out the lemon and walnuts, added a 1/2 teaspoon of salt and used turbinado sugar for the topping to give it extra crunch. Mmmmm.... thanks!

Lemon Cooler Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
This was good - simple and refreshing. I added one cup of boiling water to both boxes of lemon Jello and poured that over the cake. For the frosting, I used milk, Cool Whip, instant vanilla pudding and the juice and zest of 2 lemons. Yum!

Caramel Apple Eclair Cake

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
Taste was OK but this was a real mess to look at and got gross-looking very quickly. Probably won't make again.

Ham Breakfast Braid

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
Wish I had jazzed up the eggs a bit more with some tomatoes or onions. I used cooked bulk Italian sausage in place of the ham, since that's more of our preference. Will try again.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
This was OK. I was hoping it would taste more like my favorite Indian restaurant's version. I used the coconut milk instead of heavy cream, and I think that helped a bit. Will keep tinkering...

Quick and Easy Spinach Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Easy and good. We made this for a dinner for the two of us. Added diced tomatoes with garlic and upped the amount of garlic. Also used more cheese. Thank you!

No Bake Pizza Appetizer

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
So simple but so yummy! I used a tube of Pillsbury pizza dough, so I made it into a rectangle and baked on a cookie sheet. Used more like 1 1/2 cups prepared spinach dip and topped with grape tomato slices and quartered, sliced cucumbers. Thanks for the recipe!

Mango Chutney Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
I made changes, but I can't help it! We beat together 8 oz. cream cheese, 8 oz. shredded cheddar and 9 oz. mango chutney, formed it into a ball and let it chill overnight. I cooked and cooled a pound of bacon and chopped it with a bunch of green onions in the food processor, then rolled the ball in the bacon/onion mix to cover and served with crackers. We dislike golden raisins, so left them out. SOOOO GOOD! Got rave reviews!

Dried Beef Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2012
This is a good, basic recipe that my mom used to make for Christmas Eve snacking. We usually skip the onion salt and MSG and just use 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt. She would cover the ball in another few ounces of dried beef so it would travel well.

Purple Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
I wanted to like this salad - it was beautiful and colorful and very easy to make. My guests and I didn't like it, though. I upped the amount of sugar and it was still much too sour for our tastes.

Sausage Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
This was a TOTAL CROWD PLEASER. I used 2 jars of alfredo sauce and an undrained can of diced tomatoes with sweet onions, and it turned out great. Great make-ahead choice for special dinner and it was VERY filling so there were lots of leftovers. YUM!!!

Creamy Potato and Leek Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
This was so good and not very difficult at all! I followed other reviewer's advice and used 3 leeks and 3 potatoes, made a roux then stirred in the broth, garlic powder and celery salt (no fresh celery), then pureed til mostly smooth with a few soft chunks. Added about half of the amount of half-and-half but next time I'll try just using milk. Got rave reviews on this one - thanks!!!

Cake Batter Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
This was a good snack! However, if you're looking for a clear taste of cake batter you might be disappointed. Basically this tastes like caramel corn with just a touch of cake batter.

Spinach and Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
OH YUM! I made this for 4th of July without doing a test-run first but this turned out FANTASTIC. I didn't want a mayo-based salad because of the heat wave we're experiencing and this fit the bill. I only used about 5 oz. of the spinach leaves and I used about 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil instead of dried. I skipped the pine nuts because they were insanely expensive but I added an 8.5 oz jar or sundried tomatoes - and this MADE the salad, we thought!. I used some minced onion instead of the fresh and added about 2 T. Dijon mustard and 3 T. minced garlic to the dressing. Couldn't stop eating this - thanks for the recipe!!!!

Teriyaki Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
This was just OK for me. I used sesame oil and added brown sugar, which was crucial IMHO. Still, this is a lightly flavored salmon that is easy to prepare. Might make again.

Peanut Butter Fudge Cake

Reviewed: May 16, 2012
Rich and tasty! Everyone seems to like chocolate and peanut butter. I added a bag of peanut butter chips to the cake batter just to amp up the PB flavor a bit, and microwaved the peanut butter for about a minute before pouring onto the cake. I had some problems with the chocolate frosting since it was a bit sticky - couldn't get it to spread evenly over the peanut butter, but it still tasted good. Thanks!

Margarita Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2012
I made this into a trifle, but the 4 stars are for the filling. Really liked the flavor, it was very refreshing. I used crushed pretzels and sliced strawberries in my trifle, and the salt from the pretzels went really well with the filling, while the strawberries cut the tartness a bit. I'm going to keep tinkering with this, but thank you for such a cool idea to play with!

Fruit Pizza I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2012
This was good and easy! Like others, I took the short cut and used prepared sugar cookie dough rolled out to fit my pan. I tinted the cream cheese pink, as this was for Easter dessert, and topped with sliced strawberries and blueberries. It wasn't too sweet and seemed to be well-liked by my guests - thanks!

Strawberry Pretzel Squares

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
I LOOVE these bars! Which is strange because I normally HATE Jello. But the contrast between the salty pretzel crust and the creamy layer and then the sweetness of the strawberries is just perfect. Yum!

Salad Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
Simple to make but sloppy to eat, I agree. I usually leave off the chicken but add some shredded mozzarella for a meatless meal.
