Ham 'N' Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
Tasty recipe, added 1T fresh minced onion, used 1.5 cups milk instead of 1/2 and 1/2, added bacon to one quiche and ham to the other. Came out really nice.

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
These pancakes are good but the recipe calls for to much sugar. Next time I will halve the sugar. I used a 50 percent all purpose flour to 50 percent buckwheat flour.

Pumpkin-Apple Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
This is a very hardy muffin recipe. I changed a few things and left out the oil. Cut the sugar to 1 cup, used 1/2 cup pumpkin and 1/4 cup apple butter in place of oil, for the pumpkin pie spice I used cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, and changed the flour to whole wheat.

Dutch Apple Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
I just tried this recipe tonight. I had buttermilk and apples that needed to be used. The bread was very good. I added an extra 1/2 cup of apples and extra nuts. A nice crust formed on top of the bread and to my families suprise the topping mixture sank into the center. It made for a nice cinnamon sugar treat. Will make again.

Beetnik Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
I tried this recipe the other evening. I thought it was very good. To me it had a slight banana flavor to it even though there is no banana in it. It tasted even better the next day. I did frost it with a Lemon Cream Cheese frosting. I also used fresh pineapple because it was all I had. My mother did not care for it because it had beets into it and to her beets are not for dessert. LOL

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
I love this recipe. I have been using my sourdough starter (amish friendship bread starter) for the past three years. It just gets better every time I make bread. I think the onions on top are very tasty addition.

Lemon Poppy Seed Amish Friendship Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
This recipe is much better then the original Amish Friendship Bread. I used 1 tsp lemon extract and 1 tsp vanilla extract in place of the 2 tsp of vanilla. I cut the sugar back to 3/4 cup because otherwise it is just to sweet, may try 2/3 cup next time. The only other change was I baked the bread for 50 minutes and it was perfect. The lemon flavor got stonger as it cooled. Will make again and include this recipe in the starter kits I give out.

Baked Tofu Bites

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
This is a wonderfull recipe to use tofu in. I did make a few changes as I did not have sesame seeds so I used sesame seed oil. I also left out the liquid smoke. This is a keeper.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
Have made this twice for dinner. I made the mistake of over working the dough the first time. I had a hard time streching the dough to fit the cookie sheet. The key with this dough is not to over work the dough. I like to add the yeast to the warm water first and let the yeast soften for a few minutes. Add everything together, stir, and knead the dough a few times. I like to pat the dough on the cookie sheet until it is size I need. I also like to add dried basil and garlic powder to the dough.

I love this recipe. Have made it many times and it freezes well. Have also used textured vegatable protein in place of ground meat. Love it with dark beer.

Easy Microwave Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I tried this recipe last night and it was not to my liking. Even with the addition of sugar and extra chocolate. The only good part of this was the texture. Will not make this again!

Attempted this with horrible results. The day I added the wheat flour, my starter spilled all over the table. May try again some day.
