Me and my husband!
About this Cook
I'm a newlywed who loves to cook and try new recipes. My husband is a great guinea pig and loves to try whatever I make. I'm the supervisor of the English dept in a high school. In my free time I love to read, shop, and COOK!
My favorite things to cook
I like trying new chicken recipes, and I looooove to bake
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything Italian! I learned how to make marinara the usual Italian way--from my grandma, with no measurements. A little bit of this and a little bit of that!
My cooking triumphs
Making dinner for my parents and in-laws for the first time...having my entire family over for Christmas and doing all the cooking...not making the same thing for one whole year.
My cooking tragedies
I made the most disgusting pork chops in the slow cooker once. They were moist in a bad way and smelled crappy too. YUCK!

Luscious Spinach Artichoke Dip
This was delicious. I followed other reviewers and put the whole block of cream cheese in. I also added more parmesan to give it a little more flavor. It was a HUGE hit.

Simple White Cake
I was looking for an easy recipe for a light, fluffy white cake and this recipe was excellent. I followed other reviewers suggestions and made sure to fully beat the butter, sugar and eggs together until it was light and fluffy. Then I alternated adding the flour and milk (which I increased to 3/4 c), mixing until just combined. Do NOT overmix! The result was great. I made mini-cupcakes with them and they were a huge hit.

Chocolate Pecan Pie I
I followed the recipe exactly and this pie was excellent. After reading all the suggestions to melt the chocolate, I decided I didn't want to do that bc I wanted chunks of chocolate throughout, so I left the chips alone, like the recipe says. The only issue I faced was cooking time. The center was essentially still liquid after 50 min so I covered the pie in foil for another 15 min and it was done. I brought this to Thanksgiving and it was a HUGE hit with my family.
