Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations
This recipe was pretty good. It was easy, but I did make a few changes based off of other reviews (with the changes this cake is great). I used oil instead of shortening (1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons), I reduced the sugar, and I added a package of instant vanilla pudding in with the flour. The cake came out super moist and the pudding mix completely took care of the lack of flavor that others pointed out. I will make this again and I recommend this to anyone looking for a simple yellow cake.

French Baguettes
This was a great recipe. This was my first time baking bread and it was really easy (I even made it while watching a baseball game :)). A few notes: I used all purpose flour (which didn't hurt it one bit), I didn't use a bread machine, and I skipped the egg yolk at the end and instead placed a pan of water in the oven to mist the bread. The crust came out perfectly crusty and the inside was soft and chewy. The perfect french bread. Also, I made it into four mini loaves instead of baguettes to aviod having to roll out the dough. Three of them are already gone (I made it yesterday afternoon) and I will definitely make this again.
