Different Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
This was AWESOME!!! My 7 year old said it was THE BOMB!!! I scaled it down to 4 servings, and all I did different was cook the cubed chicken in olive oil with minced garlic and some onion powder. I also used sweet peas instead of broccoli. It was AWESOME!!!! She said she wants it again!

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
OK, first of all, I have to admit I did not follow it to the "T". I went by other users suggestions and tips. BUT, for the most part, I followed it pretty closely, but the chops turned out dry, probably because my stove top is weird. BUT, I have to say, my daughter ate the sh** out of it and was LICKING the plate, and told me it was AWESOME. She is 7, by the way. She LOVED the sauce. It was an overall hit and I just need to learn to cook the chops so they won't be dry. It's an awesome recipe!!!

Frank's Spicy Alabama Onion Beer Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I stumbled across this recipe while searching for a different chili recipe. Since I am living in AL, I decided to try it. I cut back on the spicyness because I have a 6 yr old. However, the things I did differently were: I cooked the beef with the onions to make the onions less noticable in the chili, and I cut back on the heat. I used one small can of fire roasted chilis and the 1/3 cup of chili powder, and 1 TSP of the red pepper flakes. It was perfect for my child. And it also tasted really good. This is a recipe that is very adaptable and very tasty! Excellent!!

Picadillo

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This was really good and something different. I did not ad tomatoes because I wanted to roll it in tortillas, and I didn't have almonds or raisins. Next time I'll add them and see if there's a difference. Very good!

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
This was REALLY good! My 6 yr old daughter ate it up and said she really liked it. I put too much salmon in it (my fault) so next time I will cut back. I did add smoke flavoring to the salmon also. Very good!

Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
I tried this tonight. I think that it needs MORE spice, and my 6 yr old agreed. It was good, at first but lost flavor, which I thought was really weird. I will keep this and adjust it.

Chicken Crunch

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
I am giving this a 5 star in spite of the fact that I made changes, simply because it is an EXCELLENT base, and also what I have been searching for as far as a recipe that I had eaten at a local restaurant. I personally cooked the chicken pieces in onion and garlic. I poured the chicken/onion/garlic into two cans of condensed cream of chicken soups and 1/2 C white wine.I added shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream. I then added cheese on top and mixed the cracker crumbs with butter and put them on top of the cheese. My daughter loved it. Very, very flavorful meal!!! Thanks!!!!

Easy Spicy Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
The ONLY change I made to these was reduce the chili powder to 3/4 teaspoon because of my 6 yr old. BUT, had I remembetred that she is NOT a potato eater, I'd have kept it the original amount. These were EXCELLENT. I LOVED them and I will make them in the future, for SURE!!!!

Boiled Peanuts

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
LOL! I laughed when I saw this recipe. I am from the midwest, and when I came to the deep south, you would see people set up on the side of the road selling "boiled peanuts". Never heard of it! So I decided to try it and thought they were the most disgusting thing I had ever tasted!!! I tried them a few years later, and they had not been boiled to the point of mush. I have since LOVED making them, even introducing my sister and brother-in-law, who live in Chicago, to them. They did not go over well. But I'll keep trying!!! :)

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
OK, I haven't even eaten this on pasta yet but I tasted it, and it it AWESOME. The ONLY changes I made were: I used a 28 oz can of diced tomatoea (what I had) and 2 cans tomato sauce, and I scaled back on the red pepper flakes only because of my 6 yr old. This is excellent and I will make this from now on!!!! Thanks!

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
This is a first-time try, and it seemed to go over without much problems, although my 6 yr old knew there was "something" different. Still, she ate it, and I will try this again. The more I make it familiar the better she is! I tasted it and it was awesome!!! :)

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
I am quite sure I must have done SOMETHING wrong, because I did not care for this. I do not try a recipe unless I think the ingredients, etc., are what I would like. I am sure I must have done something wrong, and part of it may have been the fact that I listened to other reviewers who said to carmelize the onions until very dark. Yuck. It added a burnt taste. I will retry this recipe without caramelzing the onions so dark. Otherwise, it was good. I used garam masala because I felt it had the spices of the middle east. It was good, in spite of the bad onions. I also used sour cream but even that didn't counter the bad onions! I guess I screwed up the onions! I will try this again and adjust accordingly. UPDATE: I again made this last night and it was SO much better! I didn't darken the onions that much. I may add garlic to it next time.

Grandma's Chicken Chardon

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I tried this recipe last night and I will definitely make it again!! It was VERY good. I added shredded Italian cheese on top. One thing I will do next time is marinate the beasts in an Italian-style marinade to give the chicken more flavor. VERY good recipe! Thanks! UPDATE: I again made this recipe but marinated the chicken in a marinade I found on this site. It's called "Garlic and Herb Marinade", and it added TONS of flavor to the chicken. Both recipes are definite keepers!!! Yum!!!!!

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
This recipe ROCKS. I've made it three times now and it is awesome. I add a lot more cajun seasoning and no salt, and it turns out awesome every time, and the dill sauce is AWESOME. Will make this all the time now!! Definitely worth a try!!

Swedish Sticky Chocolate Cake (Kladdkaka)

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
OK, I just made this (during a major storm) and at first I thought I had completely screwed it up because it was "jiggly" when I took it out (I baked it an additional 10 minutes because I thought I had messed it up!). But now I see that it is meant to be that way....well, I think it is! It doesn't matter because I'll still eat it!! Chocolate is chocolate and this has a wonderfully "different" taste to it. It is wonderful, whether made perfectly or screwed up!!!! :) YUM!!!!

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

This recipe was very good. Unfortunately for me, I must not be able to tolerate baked mayo or something because it came back to haunt me later that night! But it was very good tasting!

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2006
I LOVED it! And the flavor was excellent (I love lots of flavor in my foods, so this was excellent!). The only suggestion I have is to cut back on the salt to about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon. Otherwise, this was A+++++++++++++!!!!
