Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
Giving this 5 stars for ease and good flavor! I'm on a strict, healthy diet per doctor's orders, so I didn't use the crescent rolls (although I'm sure it would be Delicious!!) and I used Fat-Free Cream Cheese. Instead, I spread the mixture and veggies on whole wheat tortillas. Didn't refrigerate anything, just spread it on and ate it. Was VERY good!! Topped with shredded carrots, chopped green peppers, green onions and avocado slices. Thanks for the great recipe and my new-found way of adding veggies to my diet :))

Savory Tater Tot Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
Not a bad recipe with some additional ingredients. Tater tot casserole is what it is. It's never going to fabulous! But, this recipe is pretty good. This recipe wouldn't have been as good had I not added some minced garlic, 1/2 packet onion soup mix, a splash of worcestershire, a sprinkling of onion powder, and a handful of shredded cheddar. I cooked my meat with the onion like others did then baked it for 50 minutes. Note that the recipe calls for a 19 ounce can of soup. I'm sure many people overlooked that and bought the usual 10 ounce can like I did. Luckily I had a can of cream of mushroom soup on hand to add. All in all, it was a nice way to get my toddler her beloved tater tots along with some veggies and meat.

Oregon Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
I've been making salmon patties for years, and thought I'd try a new recipe. This recipe is basically how I make mine, but I really liked the addition of dry mustard. It gave the flavor a bit more "oomph". I, too, usually use fresh parsley, but didn't have any on hand so I used dry. I think I like it even better since they don't taste so "green". I squeezed a slice of lemon over top when they were done. Super! Thanks for the great recipe. Oh, no need to reserve the liquid. They'll never be cohesive if you do.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
This recipe is wonderful! I cut the recipe in half and it still made a lot. I followed the recipe for the most part. Only thing I did was used 3/4 C. flour instead of 1 C., tossed the apples in sugar, and baked it for 1 hour. I used 6 Cortland apples, so that was probably a little more than the 4 C. called for....remember I made a half recipe. Very good. I will make this again and again. Served with Walmart's "Homemade Vanilla" ice cream. YUM!

Yin-Yang Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
BAD BAD BAD. I don't know how this gets such high ratings, unless the secret is in what brand of hot sauce you buy. I used Louisianna Hot Sauce and all I could taste was that, along with a fishy taste now and again. My fish turned out kinda mushy too and I even cooked it for 30 minutes. Yuck.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
I've never made bruschetta before and this recipe was fairly easy and very good. As other reviewers suggested, I brushed the oil on the bread and broiled for a couple minutes before adding the rest of the ingredients. I also used slices of mozzarella instead of shredded so it wouldn't fall off the bread. Next time to save much time I will buy a can of diced tomoatoes instead of chopping all those. Great recipe!

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
I've never made this but have had it over the years, and it was so easy to make and turned out great. I put it in a flower pot with a fake flower and little garden trowel and everyone thought I was so "crafty"..HA! It went over really well. I will surely make this again. I even used sugar-free french vanilla pudding and whipped topping, and it tasted just as good as the real thing. Can't wait to make this for a summer party using the vanilla sandwich cookies so it looks like sand and I can put it in a pail with a shovel and shells :-)

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
Not too bad for what it is, which is a basic recipe. I have gestational diabetes and was looking for a low-carb recipe and this one fit the bill. I need to eat an ounce of meat with my snacks throughout the day, so I just grab a cold meatball outta the fridge. I added some garlic powder, salt and parmesean cheese and baked them for a total of 25 minutes. Were pretty good and my 1-1/2 year old loved them too. I'll surely make these again....at least until the baby comes :-) Edit: I made these again tonight with extra-lean ground beef, used crushed saltines instead of bread crumbs and added some garlic powder, parsley, dried onions, basil and some parmesan cheese. Poured some marina over top and baked a bit longer. YUMMM! My picky daughter even liked these.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
Wow. I get so excited when a 5-star recipe actually lives up to what I expect! This was so freakin' good. I took tips from the top two "Most Helpful" reviews, such as using the Pillsbury ready made crusts, baking at 375 for 55 minutes, adding some garlic powder and garlic salt, and I omited the peas and subbed diced potatoes. Also, made about 1.5x the amount of gravy filling and mixed with chicken and veggies before putting into my crust. I love this recipe and will make it again and again.

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
What a wonderful recipe! When I make vegetable soup it usually seems a little bland, but this was not the case tonight. Very flavorful. I doubled the recipe, added a can of kidney beans, and cooked the beef with a whole yellow onion and 3 cloves of garlic. I also subbed beef broth for the water. So easy to make, was inexpensive, and healthy. Will surely make this often all winter long.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Ho hum recipe. Might be worthy of 3.5 stars, but I thought it was awfully garlicy. If I made it again, which I doubt I will since there's better recipes out there, I would only add 2T garlic. Don't get me wrong, the overall flavor wasn't bad, it's just not something I would make again.

Bob's Awesome Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
Good recipe, but I modified it just a hair like others had done.....added 1 egg to cottage cheese mixture, and used 56 oz. of spag sauce. When I make this next time I will most definately use a very large container of ricotta instead of cottage cheese. There wasn't nearly enough cottage cheese in the recipe, plus I think it would taste better with ricotta. I soaked my uncooked noodles in hot water for 40 minutes and they turned out great. Definately add more spices at your leisure, like garlic powder, italian seasoning, and a dash of nutmeg.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
This is so easy and inexpensive to make. I'm not sure what Stroganoff is supposed to taste like, but we thought it tasted like a mild chicken alfredo. Next time I may add some mushrooms, but it's good just the way it is.

Orange Cream Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I think this recipe needs some sugar and the fruit could be doubled. Too much 'dressing' and not enough fruit. I doubt I will make it again. It just tastes okay.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
What a simple and tasty way to make fish. I omitted the celery salt since I didn't have any, and added Old Bay to each side as others have done. Next time I might add some bread crumbs or panko for a little crunch. But, it's wonderful as it is!

Baked Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
In the unlikely event that I would make these again, I would decrease the onion in half and surely saute them in butter to soften before adding to the potatoes. It just had an overwhelming onion flavor. I also didn't find this recipe to be as creamy and flavorful as most others have. In fact, they're sort of on the dry side. But, since I am enjoying them a tad more today leftover and the onion flavor is more mellow, I'm going to guess that making them the day before and refrigerating them is key.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
OMG! So good and easy, plus all the ingredients (minus chicken) are things I always have on hand anyway. I used chicken breasts and flattened them out. I diluted the mayo just a slight bit, as others have done. I baked the breasts at 400 for 40 minutes and they were perfect. My husband and I were both really impressed with this recipe. And it's hard to impress him!

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
It will never taste 100% like the real deal, but this is very close. Skyline is my all-time favorite restaurant. I would suggest using the finely shredded cheese to make it a bit more authentic, and serve the cheese at room temp. So freakin' yummy!!

Oatmeal Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I found the chili powder to be a tad overwhelming. If I were to make this again, I would only add half the amount. The oats didn't get crispy. So, perhaps I would grind them up a bit before adding to the mix. Overall flavor wasn't too bad, maybe a little blander than I had expected though.

Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
This recipe is pretty good. I baked them only 10 minutes as everyone else has suggested and they turned out just right. I was expecting the cookies to be a bit more chewy & soft though. This is a good recipe, but it still doesn't beat the Flourless Peanut Butter Cookie recipe on this site....and it's only 3 ingredients!
