Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I took the advice of other reviews and cut the 4lb pork shoulder into 4 big chunks. Since the surface area then increased, I had to basically keep making the rub over and over! I placed 3-4 cloves of garlic in the chicken stock and set it on high to cook for 5 hours. The smell during the last hours were toture - we were so hungry but knew we couldn't eat it yet!! It was 4/5 stars coming out of the slow cooker, but after putting it in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 400, it was 5/5!!

Amazing Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I had to use some crushed seasoned croutons since regular bread crumbs would have been too plain. Otherwise, yes, this was very moist!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
This is my first time making key lime pie, and it turned out sooo good!! I did not do the zest and increased the lime juice to 1 full cup. I did get very tiny bubbles at about 10 minutes. I love the tart and sweet!! I will not be trying another recipe for key lime pie.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
This was okay. I've eaten a lot of different curries (Indian, Thai, Japanese,...) I think perhaps this one is suppose to taste more Indian. There was something major missing - maybe it was the garam masala, or too much tomatoes. Not sure...

Pat's Mushroom Saute

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
I agree with a reviewer that the balsamic vinegar lost its flavor in the midst of cooking. I had to add some halfway through. I also added some onions. Like other reviewers I only cooked it half the time and it was excellent in the end.

Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Really yummy! I followed the other reviewer's suggestion of decreasing temp to 350 and added more evaporated milk. Definitely let it sit out for a little bit before digging in. I know it's hard but it's worth it! Plus, makes excellent, excellent leftovers!!

Barlow's Blackened Catfish

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I made it exactly as stated in the recipe and I have to give it 3 stars because of the salt. 2 tsp was a lot, and then to bake it in the italian dressing just made for a really salty meal!! Next time I make it, I will omit the salt completely. EDIT- We made a second time (with half the salt!) and this time, we just left it on the pan and blackened it for about 10 min. Did not do the oven with the dressing. I thought it tasted even better this way!! Warning - it is very spicy, but I love it this way!

Sesame Broccoli

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
With some tweaking, this can be five stars, but as it stands, I could only give it 2. Though it smelled wonderful, I agree that it was bland. The next time I made it, I added onions, a dash of white sugar, and soy sauce. What a difference just 2 simple ingredients make!

Scrambled Eggs and Tomatoes

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
My family always put sugar in eggs so I liked that although the soy sauce was a bit strange in this dish. I probably would have preferred to leave that out and just add mozarella cheese to the egg/tomato mix instead.

Lemon Rosemary Salmon

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
This was great!! Very easy yet tasty. We used salmon fillet with the skin so no need for olive oil. Used lemon pepper but thought still needed more regular pepper. So next time that's what we'll do.

Easy Fried Spinach

I really liked this recipe, although the second time I made it, I cut down the oil and butter and I thought it was better. Thanks!

Peanut Butter, Mayonnaise, and Lettuce Sandwich

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
I laughed when I saw this recipe. Never in a million years would I have thought to put mayo and PB together!! First thought was GROSS. Then I remembered how I ate really strange things in growing up in Taiwan but they were delicious!! So curiosity got the best of me. I only had baby argula around which I think gave it a strange taste, but I still gobbled the whole sandwich up! Next time I will try it with iceberg. Everyone out there, don't judge til you try!! Thanks for posting!

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
This was great!! I used all the suggestions - 3 kernel test and 3 sec on and off shake. Took me 2 tries to get it right - I thought there was too much sugar as written. And it definitely needs some salt - very KEY!! With these modifications, it would 5 stars!!

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
Wow, I was surprised how good this turned out. This recipe written alone is 4 but with some adjustments given by other reviews, easily 5 stars! I doubled all the ingredients in the sauce except for the cornstarch and I still thought it was pretty thick. I added celery, red pepper, and substituted cashews for peanuts. My boyfriend and I loved it! Enjoy!

I grew up making this with my mom so it's such a nostalgic treat!! I substitute soymilk now since I've become lactose intolerant. Don't pass this up - it's so so delicious!!

Easy Indian-Style Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
I was surprised how good this turned out! This is my first time attempting an Indian dish, and both my boyfriend and I really liked it. I could not find cumin seed so I used ground cumin. I agree that this does not give a very bold Indian flavor, despite doubling the spices. But I still highly recommend this to anyone who is new at cooking Indian dishes.

Dave's Ultimate Guacamole

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
This is usually the way I make guac and it is so simple! The only thing is I do not do is using a food processor. I like guac chunkier (gives it the homemade-feel) so I usually lightly mash the avocado. Also, this recipe depends on the salsa - use a good quality salsa not a generic one. It really makes a difference!

Ignacio's Super Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
I eat grilled or toasted PB&J all the time so when I made this, my boyfriend and I did not think it was such a big deal. Instead, we thought it was too bready. Maybe this is a better recipe for kids. Will stick to my regular 2-sliced PB&J. Thanks for posting!

Amy's Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
These were yummy. I agreed with some reviewers that the garlic was a bit strong so I may have to cut down on it. I used goldfish crackers, but was a bit unsure what crackers added to the taste as well.
