Alfredo Sauce
I had a block of imported parmesan cheese so I shredded that and added extra clove of garlic. Even with a lot of whisking this still came out grainy. The parm flavor was way too strong but that may be due to the imported block I used. Otherwise it was easy. But I don't think I will be making this recipe again.

Chocolate Frosting I
I had to tweak this recipe as I went. First, I added a bit more than 1/2 cup cocoa powder. Then I realized there was definitely not enough for my 2 layered 9in-round cake so I added another 1/4c of butter (instead of margarine, by the way). And boy was I glad I slowly added the powdered sugar. Even after increasing the butter and cocoa powder, I still only used maybe 1.75c of the sugar and it was plenty sweet. I did have to use a whole 1/3c milk (but that is with me doubling the butter). 2 stars for the base, but with my adjustments, 4 stars. I will continue to look for other recipes that do not need so much tweaking!

Four Egg Yellow Cake
This was my first time making yellow cake from scratch. It was a bit dense, not really light as I wanted it. It also sunk in the middle and tasted a bit egg-y for me. I did cream the shortening and sugar for 5 minutes, beat in the eggs one by one, and kept the milk and eggs at room temperature. Maybe it was because I continued to use the mixer after the dry was added. I do see how other reviewers could relate this to cornbread - while it does not taste like corn bread, the consistency was very similar. Other people liked it, but I think I will be trying another yellow cake recipe in the future.
