Buttermilk Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
Great multi-grain pancakes. Good flavor and texture. Maybe not the best recipe for you if you like fat, fluffy, doughy pancakes.

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
True, butter and sugar are not necessary to make an apple saute topping. But, when my teenagers try to eat at Family Donut for a weekend breakfast, this recipe entices them to stay home and eat breakfast from scratch. I pair this recipe with Buttermilk Oatmeal Pancakes http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buttermilk-Oatmeal-Pancakes/

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
Tried this after I ran out of maple syrup. It tastes like corn syrup. Next time, I will make caramel sauce instead.

Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
Thanks for listing this. I needed to find a good red beans and rice recipe with cumin, and I was pleased to see celery seed listed as well. The proportions of spices are excellent.

Black Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: May 13, 2012
I have made this recipe a few times. Both as written and with my own additions. My family prefers double the cumin and cayenne, an addition of garlic along with the spices, and a bit of cream when reducing the sauce. I always use fresh herbs (use dry to fresh conversions), and fresh ground peppers and cumin.

Veggie Pot Pie

Reviewed: May 13, 2012
Simple and tasty. The filling also freezes well. I did not have any issues with too much liquid and a soft bottom crust. Other reviewers gave excellent pie crust recipes.

Roast Beef with Coffee

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2006
Coffee is wonderful with meat dishes. Like other reviewers, I recommend adding salt, beef boullion, or vegeta to the coffee before putting the roast on to cook. And a touch of sugar added to the gravy will balance the bitterness of the coffee. Also, I suggest using one of the following techniques to ensure a tender roast. 1. In a medium high skillet, quickly brown the roast on both sides before putting in the oven. or--- 2. One day prior to cooking, seal the roast and approx 1 cup of red wine vinegar in a large ziplock. Shake lightly to coat and refridgerate.
