I love all kinds of cooking, especially baking. Though I have not been cooking for a long time, I wish to be able to feed myself what I like to eat at the very least.
Recently, I have rediscovered the joy of baking and having family and friends say: "These are delicious."
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, because they are not as time-consuming compared to cakes and others.
Soup, because there is a high rate of success, and there are so many variations of it.
Stir-fried rice, because it is the first thing I cooked (other than cookies) by myself, and it tasted quite all right.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being of northern Chinese origin, my family and I love to make dumplings and steamed buns. We make them about once a month.
My cooking triumphs
None that I can be too proud of as of now.
My cooking tragedies
My first cake-like creation. This happened when I was home alone at the age of 10 (back then we lived in Japan so it was not illegal for a child below the age of 12 to be home alone). I mixed some flour and an egg and popped it into the microwave (I was not allowed to touch the oven) and let it cook for five minutes. Then, upon discovering that the mixture had not cooked completely, I added another five minutes. The result was a hardened solid which I could not bite through.
It was an idiotic thing to do, but hey, I was ten.
