About this Cook
Mom of two, grandma of one, trying to declutter and get rid of unused cookbooks; I have copied the recipes I like, put them in a binder, and tossed the cookbooks! Am trying to reorganize and better plan meals, and am looking for new and improved recipes. Animals are "my thing" in life; I show, train, and breed dogs to AKC championships and obedience titles, and have a "few" others for pets: a rescued cat, a bearded dragon, a tarantula, a rabbit, and several rats.
My favorite things to cook
Roasting chicken or turkey with lots of herbs -- I grow my own herbs on the deck off my kitchen door.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm weird --- I enjoy the hustle and bustle of Christmas! Everyone comes to my house on Christmas Eve, and I love putting out a big spread: a table full of baked goods, cookies, punch or hot cider, breads, crackers & dip, and dipped pretzels; also, our traditional dinner of ham, hashbrown surprise, garlic greenbeans, striped jello, yam-cranberry casserole, rolls, and chocolate chip cheesecake. Wow, it's only January, and I could do Christmas again!
My cooking triumphs
I took a cake decorating class, and feel I've been very creative with making birthday cakes for my children and other folks over the years. I've been told in addition to great decorating, my cakes also TASTE great! :)
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure I've burnt a thing or two over 27 years of marriage, LOL.

Kim's Summer Corn Salad
I love it when people change a whole recipe, including ingredients, and then give it three lousy stars. Sheesh, if you're going to do that, send in your own recipe!

Cowboy Skillet Casserole
This is my family's favorite, and it's so easy to make! I love a one-pan meal.

Simple Swiss Chard
Only the 2nd thing I've made from All Recipes so far that my family disliked and refused to eat; and my husband really likes swiss chard!
