About this Cook
I'm trying to live the college life without eating that way.
My favorite things to cook
My cookies break hearts, but what I love most is making dinner with friends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is a passionately devoted noncook who intends to remain a noncook. My father has made greasy hot sub sandwiches the same way since he was 19. Sooo you could say that we have... noncooking traditions. ;-)

Maple Salmon
I have made this recipe five times. It is my absolute favorite way to eat salmon! I actually taught my non-cooking mother to make this, which she then in turn cooked for friends, who were very impressed by her sudden skill. ;-) If you never cook fish, I believe this is a great recipe to start with! A few notes on the marinade: I've found that I always need to make more because I add it to the foil wraps. It's also important to use real maple syrup, as fake syrup has a different kind of sweet taste that I didn't like as much. I add a lot more garlic, too, because we love garlic. Make a foil "pouch" to bake the fish in! This way, it can cook in the marinade, too, and it prevents a mess in your pan. :-) The fish cooked perfectly when I did this.

Banana Banana Bread
I have made this bread a dozen times over the last few years. It is by far my favorite banana bread recipe. It comes out nicely exactly as written, but don't be afraid to add your own touches. Several times, I made it with as few as 2 or 3 medium size bananas and it was fine (another reviewer noted that you may need 4-6 bananas to have 2 1/3 cups mashed). I also like to add cinnamon. Once, I added fresh blueberries, and that turned out well, too. Walnuts are also nice. This is a great simple bread!

All Day Apple Butter
I read many of the reviews before cooking and decided to cut the sugar down to 1 1/2 cups. I added a lot more cinnamon because we *love* cinnamon here. :-) Aside from peeling and cutting the apples, this recipe is incredibly simple. Your house will smell amazing and you friends and family will be impressed, even if you insist it was easy to make! I would check online to make sure the apples you are using are appropriate for this kind of cooking.
