I am 30 years old and I have been happily married for 10 years now to my amazing husband. We have 3 kids together. They are my pride and joy! I work part time but also am a stay at home mom. I learned to cook from my mother in law after living with them for about a year. She is my greatest inspiration!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking new things that I have never tried before and they turn out being a HUGE hit! I love cooking rather than baking because I like that I can add a little of this and a little of that and make it my own. Favorite place to find recipes is Americas Test Kitchen. I have a subscription to Cooks Illustrated.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My fav. cooking traditions are cooking the turkey for Thanksgiving every year, having my daughters come into the kitchen every time they know that I am about to make something and beg to help me put it together. I love it because hopefully they will learn to cook from helping me and be able to take care of themselves and their families when they get older.
My cooking triumphs
Every night I make dinner for our family of five, my husband kisses me and tells me how wonderful the food is even when I don't think it is anything special. He has done this since day one of our marriage and I love it! It makes me feel like I can do anything! Now our kids tell me every day that my cooking is the best. I can't think of a better triumph than that.
My cooking tragedies
When my mother in law was first teaching me how to bake, I was attempting to make a cookie recipe (it was called "Buffalo Chip Cookies"). I wasn't reading the recipe correctly and instead of putting 2 tsp of baking soda and 2 tsp of salt, I put 2 tablespoons of soda and salt. They were HORRIBLE! I had to more than triple the recipe and they still never turned out right. Everyone was afraid of me being in the kitchen then.
