Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
I made this for my boyfriend who loves blueberry pie and he LOVED it! He couldn't wait for it to cool, so it sort of fell apart, but it was still absolutely delicious! I would just suggest that the mixture be heated slightly before adding to the shell to ensure that all of the sugar mixture is blended effectively. Great pie!

I made these with dried cranberries, walnuts and orange zest. I also used cake flour instead of regular flour. One word...AWESOME!!

Chickpea Falafel Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2007
I actually added a little more egg white to keep the batter together AND I added some minced up greek olives! Whoa, awesome! (not sure why one commenter said that it was dangerous frying food, but maybe they should get in the kitchen and try cooking a little more often. It gets less scary the more you learn ;-)

Powdered Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
I actually only had whole wheat flour in the house so I used that and added a little more than a tablespoon of baking powder to the mix. Then I spiced up the cookies with some cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. If you use professional baking pans with the tiny holes at the bottom and the other pan that fits underneath that to buffer the heat on the bottom, the cookies come out perfectly round like store-bought cookies. Either way you back my version...WOWWIE! Awesome!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
It was unreal how fabulous this cake is! I'm not a big fan of carrot cake, but this is to die for. It's more like a cake/pudding. My father's eyes rolled into his head yesterday when I served it for desert on Easter. It was unbelievable decadent. Thanks Sam! Wherever you are!

Fried Onion Rings

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
Great recipe, but I just had to add about 1/2 c more flour to make it stick to the onions more. Also, I added some cayenne pepper to give it a zing! Really nice recipe...and I froze mine, ate them the next day after heating them in an oven and they were great with my hot dog for dinner! Thank you for the recipe.

America's Favorite Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Sometimes I like to sprinkle garlic powder on the buttered sides before grilling, but I have to watch the flame so the bread doesn't scorch. Also, instead of a pickle, I take mayo and mix in a bit of horseradish for a dip. It's awesome!

Swedish Christmas Glogg

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
I agree, add cardamon seed 1T. This is the greatest drink in the world on a cold, snowy night! The house will smell AMAZING!!!!! Put away the air freshener, put on a great holiday movie and snuggle into a big easy chair with your fluffiest jammies, slippers and blanket when you have a huge, warm cup of this stuff! Did I paint enough of a tempting pic for you? Good, now go make some, and tell the kids to eat the cookies you baked and stop bothering you for a glass of what you're having :-D LOL

I'm not a fan of the sweet pickle relish, so I use dill pickles instead. A really great dish!

Lime Fluff

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
My grandmother used to make this, but she called it Ambrosia. This recipe really brings me home! I don't know one kid that doesn't like this stuff. You can also change the flavor of the gelatain if you don't like lime, but I love it!

Honey Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
Not bad. Definitely cakier than I expected and not nearly as sweet as I thought they'd be with all the honey. I used whole wheat flour for half the flour and cinnamon and nutmeg instead of anise, but I think anise would taste great if you have it. If you're seriously trying to lose weight and have a low fat treat, this wouldn't be bad with a glass of skim milk. Or with the whole wheat flour, like I did, you could even make these for a quick, healthy breakfast out the door. I made them because I had honey and didn't want to throw it out. I used what was on hand to make 'my own' recipe of sorts. But they're not bad at all!

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
Made it with fresh tomatos from the garden. It was very good, but we don't have a 'food mill' so I used a strainer and it was pretty cumbersome. The taste is very good, but will add some peppericinos and basil to spice it up a bit. I think I may add some fresh cheese, too. But the basic recipe tastes great.
