Blueberry Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 27, 2014
Made recipe as written. No need to change anything as other reviewers have mentioned. I baked the cake for 60 minutes in a tube pan and it came out perfect. Also tastes good with strawberries in lieu of blueberries. Will be using again.

Strawberry Mojito

Reviewed: May 27, 2014
Made recipe without the sugar-rimmed glasses. A nice change from traditional mojitos. Thanks, will be making again.

Eggless Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
Would have given this 5 stars were it not for the needed changes. The taste is definitely worth 5. I left out the orange juice to ensure better potato flavor. Use COLD butter in the topping and use a pastry blender to blend until crumbly. Great recipe, especially for a family constricted by an egg allergy. Thanks!

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
This is a nice alternative to Buffalo-style wings. I used the stated ingredients without making changes. I placed wings and marinade in a gallon size Ziploc bag and marinated several hours. I placed a sheet of non-stick tin foil in the baking dish prior to adding wings. I boiled the marinade and basted wings periodically while baking, turning wings once. Served with blue cheese and ranch dressings. Yum.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
I made the batter following the recipe exactly. I used three 9x5 loaf pans and baked at 325 for 70 minutes. The loaves came out moist and delish. I was concerned the bread would be too dark as it was already a deep tan color 60 minutes into the baking time and the middle hadn't set yet. I needn't worry though; the last ten minutes of bake time set the middle but didn't overtake the crust. Tasty recipe!

Creamy Shell Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Followed recipe as written. I like the idea of chicken, potatoes and pasta, however, I found this recipe quite bland and watered down. An increase in flavoring as well as a thickened liquid-base is needed. Thanks anyway.

Harvest Pumpkin Tarts

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
Bland and found the baking time off as the bottom of the crusts were gummy. Not worth the effort to try and tweak for improvement. Thanks anyway.

All-Day Apple Butter

Super easy way to make apple butter. I didn't change a thing. A nice way to make several gifts at once. Thanks!

Southern Grits Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I'm giving this 4 stars because of the changes I made. But, with those changes, the opinion here is that it is 5-star dish. I used 8 eggs instead of 12. I added 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. I assembled the casserole, except for the last 1 cup of cheese, and then froze it. When it came time to serve it, I pulled it out of the freezer early in the morning and heated it in a 325 degree oven until warmed through. I put the final cup of cheese on top and put back in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese was melted. It's a definite keeper!

Harvest Rice Dish

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
Flavors that one wouldn't ordinarily couple together make for a pleasant dish. Didn't change a thing and will be making again.

Cindy's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
Loved this recipe. I used Andouille sausage. One could probably add another cup of rice to make this less "liquidy." Adjust the Cajun seasoning to your personal taste.

Grandma Snyder's Oatmeal Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
Outstanding cake that came out beautifully. I used old fashioned oats, which I think makes a difference. I used pecans instead of walnuts, and may cut back (1/2 - 1 cup) on them next time I make this (there WILL be a next time). Thanks!

Cherry Pie III

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I used refrigerated pie crusts. I changed the 10 teaspoons cornstarch to 3 Tablespoons. The recipe calls for 2 cups cherries. I just used 2 cans, drained, cherries. Easy recipe to keep on hand. Thanks.

Taco Salad I

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I used Catalina dressing in lieu of French dressing. I used black beans instead of chili beans. I also added a can of corn, drained, to the mixture. Recipe is a keeper as the whole family enjoyed. Thanks.

Dill Dip III

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
This recipe makes a very large amount. I prepared it as written. I felt it was a little heavy on the mayo taste and quite salty. I would decrease the salt, especially if serving with chips. I also found the onion flavor to overwhelm the dill flavor.

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I substituted olive oil for the safflower oil. I changed the 1 teaspoon sesame seeds to 2 Tablespoons. Easy recipe that is good alone but would also be tasty with shrimp or chicken for a one-dish meal.

Angel Food Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I changed 3/4 cup of confectioner's sugar to 1 cup of confectioner's sugar. I also added 2 cups mini chocolate chips to the batter just prior to pouring it into the pan. The cake turned out well. I chose not to frost it but dusted it with sifted confectioner's sugar instead.

Simple, Classic Chicken Potpie

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I used 2 (15 oz.) packages of pie crusts so the potpies would have a bottom and top crust. I altered the 9 Tablespoons flour to 1/2 cup flour. I also added 8 oz. of fresh sliced mushrooms. Aside from those minor adaptations, I prepared the recipe as written. Turned out yummy. Thanks.
