Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Moistest cornbread we've ever had. I baked for 30 minutes and the flavor was amazing. Perfect with butter and honey.

Easy Paella

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
I use this as my paella base recipe everytime and get so many compliments. Some things I've learned: 1. If you use brown rice, add a bit more liquid (maybe the juice form the lemon too or some extra broth) so that the rice cooks in more juice AND for longer than 20 min. until all is absorbed. 2. Don't be scared of the saffron. It's the secret ingredient in authentic paella. I use 3 or 4 times the amount asked for here. 3. I use spicy sausage. All around excellent recipe.

Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
This is a good basic stir fry recipe, but a bit too dry for my liking, so I added 1/2 c orange juice into the sauce as it was thickening to make it a bit saucier.

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
My husband asks me to make this delicious dish, and it's healthy. Add fresh cracked pepper and garlic powder for more taste. In keeping with the Mediterranean feel of this, I also added ground lamb once. Delicious.

Greek Lentil Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
I also added green pepper but didn't use the dressing because it gets moist enough with the cheese and tomato setting together in the fridge, especially if you use crumbled feta. It was a healthy salad for a hot summer night. Put fresh cracked pepper and garlic powder in it if it needs something.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Great flavor and aroma. Added peas to it at the end to give it some color and vegetable. Served with Naan bread. Everyone in the family loved it.

Tomato-Mint Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
You either love this or hate it. 3 of my friends could not get enough but the recipe didn't really impress my palate. However, I added mandarine oranges to sweeten it up, which was taster than the original.

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
This is very authentic and if you feel like the easy way, use frozen, shredded potatoes. Topped with sour cream and applesauce, and you have the perfect side dish. I added garlic powder to the mixture before cooking for a bit more flavor.

Shortbread Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2007
This recipes is tasty BUT it doesn't stick to the sides of the pie pan. When cooking, all of the dough ends up at the bottom and very thick. It would be great for "bars" but not for a pie crust.

Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2006
This recipe turned out very bland and runny. I think I was supposed to drain the potatoes and onions after cooking instead of just adding the other ingredients to them, but the directions never said that. Anyway, I ended up just adding more flakes and puree'ing the whole thing to make a creamy soup.
