About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake but ultimately I love to cook to entertain. Whether it's brunch, a dinner party, a cookout or cocktails and appetizers I love to have friends over to eat. My trick is choosing dishes that can be made in advance and/or require little effort so I don't have a mess in the kitchen and, more importantly, I can enjoy the party myself.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sister and I have taken over handling the annual Thanksgiving dinner. I go to her house Wednesday evening and we cook all night. I finally crash, she stays up late, then I get up early to put on the turkey. We finish everything that morning and have an early afternoon meal.
My cooking triumphs
I do cake decorating and I've had several nice looking birthday cakes and a couple of wedding cakes.

Wonderful Waffles
Truly wonderful waffles - really liked the fluffy texture. I used lowfat buttermilk and added a t. vanilla and had great results. Despite some reviews saying it was not necessary, I did go through the extra steps of separating the egg yolks and whites.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker
Very tender. It was a little salty but had a good flavor. The gravy made from the juices in the crock pot was geat.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
Big hit. I served with melted provolone on toasted buns along with mushrooms and onions. Most of my guests had two sandwiches. Very easy to make. The beef was so tender it sort of fell apart instead of slicing but wasn't a problem. I added a little garlic and will probably try using onion soup mix next to see how it turns out. Will certainly make again. Once again, a testimonial to power of the slow cooker.
