Homemade Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2014
Fabulous recipe. Even though we had a humid day, the buns were flawless. (I always use the scale for flour). I doubled the recipe for my need. My guests raved about them--and hey, how many times do guests have the chance to be served homemade hamburger rolls? I loved them, too. Couldn't have been easier or more flavorful. Cook's tip: I let the dough rise in an oiled plastic bucket dough bucket in my oven. No top. Door closed but with the addition of boiled water and poured into a pan. Warm and humid! My rising times/volume was much faster/larger, so keep a sharp eye out. I found the texture of the bun perfect for our burgers.

Choereg (Armenian Easter Bread)

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
I have not made this particular recipe. However, I spent an entire weekend trying to duplicate my grandmother's recipe which of course was not written down. I found several recipes...this one being close if not dead on to the base recipe that I used. (Some from the internet, one from the St. James Armenian Church recipe book (Richmond, VA). After a couple of close encounters, I remembered that my grandmother used evaporated milk. When I substituted evaporated milk for whole milk, it tasted identical to my grandmother's. My grandmother would put M&M's, colored sugar, and gummy candies on top of the bread (likely for us!). We loved the way that it smelled in the kitchen. She made it at Christmas as well as Easter. Oh, how I miss her cooking--both the smell and taste of it! These also make WONDERFUL dinner rolls that your guests will love. So, don't relegate them to the holidays! Thanks you for sharing this recipe.

Overnight Caramel Pecan Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
I've not even made this recipe yet, but I know that it will be perfect. I'm writing to prevent any of you from following the advice by the first reviewer to go to the store and buy the canned cinnamon rolls. There is NO substitute for scratch v. canned rolls or those horrible sliced cookies. If you're going to buy something, go to the bakery for THAT is the only equivalent. 06/18/11...Review Update: I have made this recipe several times since writing my admonishment to NOT use a canned replacement. This recipe is outstanding. I have made these and given it to neighbor's so that they will have them for Christmas morning.
