Best Butternut Squash Soup Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Excellent recipe, easy and delicious. Also works well with a handful of fresh sage tossed in during the puree process instead of using thyme.

Kolaches II

Excellent! I was a little hesitant about the lemon extract but did it anyway and was pleasantly surprised. It added a fresh little bit of citrus to a perfectly sweet dough. Thanks so much!

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
I followed this recipe very closely and it came out fantastic! Like the others, I noticed that it did make a ton of filling, way more than one crust can fill. No worries though, it won't go to waste. Next time I may add some herbs and garlic, but it really is an exceptional recipe on its own. Also, the crust was very tasty and so easy - do yourself a favor and dont use a cardboard store-bought crust for this. Making your own crust is ridiculously simple.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
Super cornbread recipe! I cut down on the sugar a bit just for personal taste, but other than that didn't change a thing and it was great. Cornbread loving husband can't get enough! Thanks!

Michael's Foccacia Bread

So easy and versatile! I topped mine with carmelized onions, asiago cheese and rosemary. It really does only take about an hour. You take take this recipe and make it whatever you want. Excellent for entertaining.

Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I took these to work for our Thanksgiving feast and everyone loved them. I made a big batch and didn't take any home with me! Like other reviewers, I didn't bother with the oil and foil for baking. I used real butter, not margarine. Cut back just a tad on the sugar and vanilla, only because I knew my sweet potatoes were really sweet on their own. Great recipe - people were asking for it!

Eggplant and Pepper Parmesan Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
This was the bomb. I used my own home made bread and subbed gruyere for the parmesan, which I felt gave it a little more bite. FANTASTIC.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Super easy and delicious! If it's too thin for you, replace the tomato juice with more tomato sauce. That worked for me. Also, next time I'll saute the onions and celery a bit before adding the rest of the ingredients. I halved the recipe because there's just two of us and it was ready just over an hour. YUM!

Greek Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
I loved this salad! I knew it was going to make a TON so I cut back on the amount of everything by about a third and still ended up with plenty. I really enjoyed the way the flavors worked together; it was very satisfying. I would be proud to take this dish to any get-together with family and friends this summer. Thanks Patrice!

Sausage Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Fantastic! Very easy, quick and tasty. I didn't bother to peel my potatoes and it was just fine. I sliced mine in the food processor so it made it twice as fast. Mine only took a little over an hour to bake. Thanks for a great recipe!

Mark's Cabbage and Hamburger Delight

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
Really enjoyed this! Very easy and delicious. I did sub beef stock for chicken stock, just because it seemed to make more sense. The smoked paprika is key here - I wouldn't make this with regular paprika. I think the folks that ended up with gummy noodles missed the part where it says to add water to make sure the noodles don't get dry. I added about 2/3 of a cup, which may have been a bit too much but it all worked out. Without knowing anything else, my husband tasted it and said, "Yum! It's healthy Hamburger Helper!" I'll definately make this again. Thanks!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
Absolutely delicious! Amy's walnuts must be bigger than mine because I ended up with 40 cookies based on the 24 serving recipe (making the dough balls the size of a walnut). I made mine with BUTTER, others may or may not consider this a major change. I would never use margarine.

Excellent! Spouse can't take raw onions so I had to sub onion powder, unfortunately. He still raved about it!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
This is UH-MAZE-ING. I would give it six stars if I could. I used a "pork roast" and a "ham roast" totalling about 5 pounds. I shut it off after about 8.5 hours and it was perfectly done. I made a gravy out of the drippings and that was a nice added layer of flavor, but honestly I was munching while I shredded, sans gravy, and loving it!

Shrimp and Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
This was a great, easy recipe. On the advice of other reviewers, I added a little Old Bay seasoning and that made a good bisque great. The recipe didn't call for chopping the seafood but I did, as not doing so would make it kind of wierd. Next time I make this I will finely chop some of the shrimp/crab so it's not so broth vs. chunk.

This was really good! I also had to use a sweet onion instead of a red onion but it was still very tasty and I will definately make this again.

Cheesy Turnips and Carrots

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This was pretty good. I could see myself using the sauce on a lot of different things. It did tend to hide the turnip rather than showcase it, but still wasn't a bad way to prepare them.
