I am a wife and mother of two beautiful girls. My husband and I also breed Labrador Retrievers. Between friends, family, and dogs, we stay happily busy.
My favorite things to cook
My time spent cooking is generally dinner. I look for simple, nutricious meals, and enjoy variety. We eat a lot of venison, as it is one of the leanest, healthiest meats available. I'm always looking for a healthier version of our favorites, but it has to taste good! I like experimenting with marinades for steaks, and new recipes for making vegetables interesting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a sit down dinner every night. There's always pancakes or waffles on the weekends, cookies, fudge and homemade caramel on Christmas, Turkey and dressing and "Bing Cherry Jello Salad" on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and warm breakfasts.
My cooking triumphs
I created my own chili recipe that everyone loves, and I make venison so tasty, you'd never know its wild game.
My cooking tragedies
Oh my goodness! I tried to make a cream of brocolli soup one time that called for evaporated milk. I accidentally used sweetened condensed milk instead. It tasted so nasty--a little like baby food. Brocolli just wasn't meant to be sweet. Soups just aren't my thing.
