Layers of Love Cherry-Choco Trifle

Reviewed: May 10, 2013
Elsewhere I've seen this trifle called "Black Forest Trifle". This recipe is much better (IMO) if you use brownies, cut into 1" squares. Also, mix the pie cherries with approx. 1/2 Cup berry juice (the brownies then absorb the flavor better), change out the chocolate pudding mixture with white chocolate (mix according to pkg instructions, but fold in 8 ounces of whipped topping). So, the layers go like this: 1/2 brownies on the bottom, 1/2 cherries next, 1/2 pudding/topping mixture next. Repeat layers. Top with chocolate curles or shavings. HUGE hit with my family!

Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2013
Great recipe, and so easy for we novices! I'm going to add apples to the potatoe/carrot/onion/cabbage mix the next time though.

Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2014
One of my favorite "go to" recipes! I modify it only slightly by using 1/2 Cup Shortening & 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter (instead of all shortening).

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2014
Love it! It's my go-too, basic crisp recipe. I decided to switch it up for Fall and made it into a "CARAMEL APPLE CRISP". Using 5 cups of sliced apples instead of berries, I drizzled about 1/3 cup of Mrs. Richardson's Butterscotch Caramel topping over the top of the apple layer before adding the top crisp layer. I baked it at 350 for a full 50 minutes (testing the apples until they softened). Add a dollop of ice cream while still warm and VOILA! This is a 5 Star family fav.

Spiced Peach Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
I enjoyed everything about these muffins except the molasses. There's something about it that doesn't sync with peaches, in my opinion. So next time I'll try something different in hopes of enhancing the peach flavor.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2014
Like many others, I added a bit of garlic (1-2 TBSP minced). I also eliminated the potatoes but added a large slice of maple cured/cooked ham diced into small pieces. Just before serving I added a cup of milk. This is a huge family favorite!
