I starting cooking when I was 8. I have always loved to cook. I have tried to share that with my children who at least know how to cook, if they don't love it.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade Bread. To me the process of making it and the enjoyment of getting to eat it right out of the oven while it's piping hot, can't be topped.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my children. I started when they could barely walk. They would help me out. Now even the children that have left, are found in the kitchen helping me out during the holidays. Since I found out I had cancer, the children have step-up to help with all the cooking. I can't explain how proud it makes you feel when that happens.
My cooking triumphs
My first time cooking for a crowd of 40 at Thanksgivng.I made so many dishes, tring to do it all by myself (I was young) and it came out great. The turkey was perfectly brown and tender, and everything looked beautful. I was exhusted.
My cooking tragedies
The first Thankgiving dinner I cooked for just my family. Everything was done and all we were waiting on was the turkey. The timer went off, I went to pull the turkey out and found that the pilot light had gone out and the turkey was still raw. We wound up eating sandwiches.
