Hot Dog a la Potato

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2013
Easy recipe, we call it stuffed weiners. You can use the packets of seasoned instant potatoes such as garlic or loaded potatoes, forget the american cheese, add cheddar and bake for 30 minutes. Add a little Frank's sauce if you want and it goes great with a salad and some Stouffer's mac and cheese...try some Frank's on the mac and cheese too!

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2012
Made it many times and my family loves it. I can't find transfat specifically in the crescent rolls or in chili cheese fritos. Everything has fat in it if it isn't an alfafa sprout, I swear! I agree with the others, no nutrition police, thank you!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
These are actually very good cookies. I have made them twice and the flavor is good. What is surprising is everytime I make them, the dough is crumbly. I have to add just a bit of milk. From now on, if I use strictly butter I will add another egg. If I do half/half butter-crisco, it will probably be okay. If you find that you too, have crumbly dough, try some milk. I think an extra egg was left out of the initial ingredients. You don't want to add egg at the end though.

Linnie's Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
I am the one that submitted the original recipe. I have to tell you that over time I have found an even easier way to do it with the same results. I have added the rice and salsa and the equivilant amount or so of water or broth from the salsa jar (not 2 cups); added it to a rice cooker and hit the "white rice" button. Wha-la! It is the same and so much less fuss!

Wine and Garlic Pork (Portuguese Vina Dosh)

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2014
OH my God, this is wonderful! My husband's family is from the Azores, Terceira to be specific, and settled in Tulare, Hanford area. His father would use Vina Dosh marinade for rabbit and chicken. Unfortunately he passed away and so did the recipe. When I tried this and my husband ate it, he was so happy. He said it is as close as I could possibly get, I am sure a different wine would make a different taste, but this is the real deal. THANK YOU SO MUCH CALI-CHEF. Also, I have a portuguese beans recipe I submitted that will be perfect with these, if Allrecipes doesn't post it, find it on justapinch.com Thanks again !

Espiros Dois (II)

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
Thank you for the recipe very much! I just wanted to also stick up for you. Vovo also means grandma Espiros also mean meringue which anyone could sigh over. Brazillian portuguese is not the same as the Azores, Central CA or Portugal.

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2003
For those of you that have complained about the recipe, let me give you some advice. At no time should there be any butter floating as a glob that you have to "mop" up. You don't have your crock pot hot enough. Start it out on high if you plan on having this drink in a couple of hours. I let it usually simmer for 4-5 hrs and it is an after dinner drink. When the crock is steaming and the buter is glistening, then you have your batch correct. Don't add the rum to the pot if it is too much. Add it to the each mug to taste. If you alter this recipe with splenda or margarine and still rate this poorly, that is your problem. Best of luck to those who take another stab at it. I think you will be happier with the results...

This is great! My family loves it! It is quick and easy. I try to buy the lower sodium soup whenever on sale. I also like to toss my cooked chicken strips in taco seasoning for an extra kick before adding it to the soup mixture. Thanks for sharing!

Mincemeat III

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2003
This is my recipe and it was altered by the allrecipes staff. What you actually do is cook all these ingredients on the stove top and then add them to sterilized canning jars. Then the easiest way to can is to put these in quart jars, preheat oven at 170 and let cook for 2 hours and then turn off oven and open doors and let cool naturally. As the jars cool they will pop and seal. Very amazing. Much simpler than a water bath and just as safe. You can only use this for fruit or tomatoes, not meat or vegetables. Remember if the jars don't pop they aren't sealed and you will have to toss that jar. However, I have yet to have this happen. They always seal. Enjoy

Strawberry Bread

This was excellent! Only change came from previous people. Use 2 cups pureed berries with 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 c oil. Reduce rest of sugar to 1 cup and 2 cups sliced strawberries and you have a perfect bread!
