Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2005
I thought it was very good. I think I would marinate the chicken the night before and add the cheese the last 5 mintues of baking. Other than that, very good.

Unbeatable Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2003
I have this recipe and I won 2nd place at the county fair. It is the best I have ever had. Always requested. For a nice presentation I take whole pecans and line it around the edge of the pie pan. I also only use a quiche dish for this one and it looks great, no crust edge to worry about!

Mincemeat III

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2003
This is my recipe and it was altered by the allrecipes staff. What you actually do is cook all these ingredients on the stove top and then add them to sterilized canning jars. Then the easiest way to can is to put these in quart jars, preheat oven at 170 and let cook for 2 hours and then turn off oven and open doors and let cool naturally. As the jars cool they will pop and seal. Very amazing. Much simpler than a water bath and just as safe. You can only use this for fruit or tomatoes, not meat or vegetables. Remember if the jars don't pop they aren't sealed and you will have to toss that jar. However, I have yet to have this happen. They always seal. Enjoy

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2003
For those of you that have complained about the recipe, let me give you some advice. At no time should there be any butter floating as a glob that you have to "mop" up. You don't have your crock pot hot enough. Start it out on high if you plan on having this drink in a couple of hours. I let it usually simmer for 4-5 hrs and it is an after dinner drink. When the crock is steaming and the buter is glistening, then you have your batch correct. Don't add the rum to the pot if it is too much. Add it to the each mug to taste. If you alter this recipe with splenda or margarine and still rate this poorly, that is your problem. Best of luck to those who take another stab at it. I think you will be happier with the results...

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2001
I didn't have luck with the pie the first time. But the 2nd time I tried it, it was awesome. I watched the video and then it made sense. Anyway, for those who are looking to savor the full taste of the apples, DON'T add spices. Just enjoy the pie. My husband doesn't like cinnamon or apple pie spice and quite frankly, this pie was perfect in it's simplicity while it looked decadent. Thank you for sharing Grandma Ople's pie. I am done with my search for the right pie for our family. If you tried this pie before and failed, try again. You might be surprised! Yes, I used cornstarch instead of flour.

Sugar Cookie Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2001
It was the shiniest glaze I have ever found. Made a beautiful glaze for my sugar cookies. I found that less water made it perfect. I also found I didn't need to use a spatula, I just dipped the cookie upside-down and twisted. I am not sure if you need to let these air dry or freeze. I froze them to try and get them to set quicker. They stacked better than any other glaze/icing I have used but still got smudges. Any suggestions? I am still experimenting.
