Whole Egg Mayonnaise

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
I had a recipe similar to this years ago which came with my Oster blender. My recipe only used the egg yolk. It gave variations which could be made and one was to add bleu cheese to make bleu cheese dressing. It was much better than any store bought dressing. Try it.

Grammy's Ice Box Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
I have been making this recipe for years as it is delicious. I got the recipe from my mother in law and it is my husbands favorite. She always used shortening instead of margarine and pecans instead of walnuts chopped fine. I have made them with butter flavor shortening which I really prefer. I also made them with butter but really prefer the shortening. My husband is diabetic so this is his "treat" at Christmas. His mother passed away many years ago so I feel sure it brings back good memories.

Cold Day Chili

I decided I would try something different from my self created recipe for chili and was sorry I did. So disappointed.

Cherry Icebox Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Just made these and wasn't impressed at all. I think maybe almond flavoring would have helped. Can't taste the cherry flavor at all. Disappointed in my efforts.

Dandelion Salad

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
This brought back memories of my childhood when Mom and Dad would go to the woods to pick wild greens--nothing better! I still long for that taste. Mom would cook them in some water and add bacon grease. Yummy! I remember dandelion and sour dock being some of the "weeds"they picked. We would also sprinkle our serving with a little vinegar.

Chinese Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
To my husband and I, this was one of the most tasteless recipes I have tried. I had even added more marmalade in the beginning as I love it and wanted that sweet taste. Maybe the problem was the meat, I don't know but will not make it again. Sorry!

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I layered the ribs and poured sauce over each layer. When they were done, some of the sauce slid off and the ones in the bottom were falling apart. I took another persons advise and put on a shallow pan and broiled in the oven for a few minutes and also spooned some of the sauce over before doing this. They were wonderful and one of the best things was that there was no "indigestion" afterward--a real plus! I had 6 people for dinner and everyone loved them. Not sure I would slow cook them again but instead slow cook in the oven basting frequently.

Peanut Butter Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I made these for my husband to take to work and they requested the recipe. I used chocolate ganache for the icing. Since the men liked them, all is well.

Jordan Marsh Style Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
We loved these! A good equal to Costco ones. I, too, used butter. My muffin tin was a little on the small side so actually had more than 12. Will probably purchase an oversized one and that should be perfect. Will definitely make again. I also do not know what a "Jordan Marsh" muffin is, but assume it is a local thing.

Cream of Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This was delicious. I fixed it for my husband to take to work and everyone loved it. The only thing I would do different is the icing. I would add butter to it and it would be like the traditional carrot cake icing and would cut the sweetness. I loved the denseness of the cake--it reminded me of cheesecake.

Farfalle Festival

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
This was wonderful! I felt I was eating at Macaroni Grill (Pasta Milano). My husband enjoyed it also. I had some mushrooms that needed to be used so I sauteed them (sliced) in a little butter. I only used 2 slices of bacon as that is all I had and did it in the microwave (less mess). I had changed the serving size to 4 and the recipe called for 1 1/2 lbs. of pasta. I only used 1 lb and that was almost too much. I ended up using the entire one lb. jar of alfredo sauce and also added more half and half which I had substituted for the cream. I will definitely make this again and plan to use sun dried tomatoes as I believe that is what is used at Macaroni Grill. I had been looking for a recipe similar to theirs and this is so similar that I doubt that I would be able to tell the difference. Thanks for sharing! I do have leftovers so will enjoy again. YUM!

Quick Chicken with Asparagus and Provolone

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
This just wasn't what I expected. I used fresh asparagus instead of canned but we just didn't like it and I love all of the ingredients. I think I might try it adding a little salt and pepper before breading. Also, I would like to put it in the oven to keep the breading crisp and just leave out the broth. Maybe the soft breading was what was bad. Sorry.

Ground Beef and Rice with Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
This recipe is just not right. Where do I start--First of all, it calls for a 1 qt baking dish. This is impossible considering it calls for 3 cans of soup which is almost a quart in itself. I made the recipe tonight and didn't find it anything special. There is way too much chili powder. Rice cannot be properly cooked using 1 cup water to 1 cup rice. There should be 2 cups of water. I feel I wasted food tonight.

Kielbasa and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This was fantastic! Hubby loved it and said it was a keeper. I also added 4 carrots cut in chunks. I also threw in about 3 tbsp. butter and cooked it in a tall pan. I usually cook cabbage in chicken broth but this produced plenty of moisture. The only thing I would change is the amount of the cajun seasoning. I can't use a lot so cut it to 1 tsp. but will cut it to 1/2 when i make it again. Of course, this is just my preference. This would be good served with cornbread.

Potato Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2006
I didn't care for this at all. More potato taste than salmon. I like my recipe more using saltine cracker crumbs, 1 egg, lemon pepper and dried dill weed.
