I'm 26 years old and I love to cook and try new foods. I find being in the kitchen to be relaxing and soothing especially after a long day at work. I love to try new recipes and my husband has no problem trying them all!
My favorite things to cook
I really don't have a favorite. I like to try new recipes all the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Me and my sisters used to get together every Sunday and cook and play games. It is a great way to spend time together and know what is going on in our lives. One of my sisters has recently moved out of town so I definately miss that.
My cooking triumphs
1. Cooking the family gumbo recipe. I was terrified to try this on my own, but it came out exactly like my mother's! 2. Family dinner rolls. This was another recipe I was very nervous about attempting. You will either get the rolls to rise or you won't, lol. I decided to bit the bullet and try it out. Mission completed! 3. Easter Dinner 2011. I made the entire feast on my own and it turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
I got a recipe off the food network channel that sounded really good. I followed all the instructions which called for alot of beer and oil. When I finished thats all it tasted like. What was bad was I just started dating this guy and I made it for him!! I immediately threw that recipe away. Seven years later I am now married to that same guy.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze
MUST TRY! I didn't follow the original recipe, but added garlic and brown sugar per other reviews and OMG this was amazing! I also browned the steaks in the pan first and finished in the oven (like I always do) and reduced the sauce seperately (also doubled the sauce). Very sexy meal!

Stuffed Shells III
Delicious! I took out the mushrooms and added some ground turkey for some meat. Other than that, I pretty much followed the recipe. Would love to try this recipe next time with homemade sauce!!

Cheesy Broccoli Chicken Casserole
Very good and easy dish to make. I did not add any lemon juice (didn't have any) and I also cut back on the mayo per other reviews. I also felt that steaming the broccoli and onion before was a waste of time so I just added it to the dish when you combined all the ingredients. Broccoli came out cooked perfectly (not mushy). Overall, I will definitely make this dish again.
