Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
if asparagus is thin then its good to use more than one asparagus to wrap a bacon around. I've always fried it in a pan so next time I'll try the oven. Pepper should be optional though cuz it taste great with just bacon and asparagus.

Vegetarian Tortilla Dog

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
OMG, Im surprised to see this recipe here. I did this a long time ago and I thought it tasted really good with regular hot dogs too. I folded my tortillas like an envelope and cooked it in a pan with a little butter. Makes it a little crispier (but not dry) than cooking it all in the micro. It's very good as a school lunch or to the beach/picnic.

Ranch Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
Used 1 lb hamburger instead of 2 and used breadcrumbs since that's what I had on hand. I forgot to add an egg but it didn't really matter because it still came out great! I thought it still needed more flavor but after adding the condiments and veggies it was wonderful.

Meatloaf with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Was afraid to make at first because of the cream of wheat ingredient but it turned out very delicious with some modifications. In addition, I also added a few cloves of garlic, a 1/2c. jar of spaghetti sauce and some shredded cheese. Mixed them all up with the rest of the ingredient and let cook as per directions. About 30 min. before end I add more spaghetti sauce right on top of meatloaf and let cook. I also topped it with shredded cheese at the end too. Very good!

Tasty Tuna Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
It tastes great with some modifications. First I chopped some onion and garlic and cooked until transparent then I added 1 jar of sauce but it wasn't enough so added an envelope of (dried)alfredo sauce followed directions on envelope. Then according to other reviews 2 cans of tuna is better so did that. I also used less frozen peas. Just run hot water over peas (about 5-10 secs), strain, and add to sauce. Top with parmeasan cheese and you're done. I'll probably make again because it's fast, easy and affordable.

Kikuchan's Potato-Crab Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Local families in Hawaii always make this at parties and it's always a hit. You can also use imitation crabmeat (really, it's good) or 1 can tuna if you don't have crabmeat. A tip I got from a friend is "shredding" 1/2 (or less) an onion and mix into salad. I also use more mayo and add some macaroni.

Spinach Caprese Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
good basic recipe to start with. I kicked it up a notch by adding thinly sliced red onion, used cherry tomatoes, some slivered almonds(the kind thats used for salad toppings)and slices of roasted chicken with the spinach. I didn't have mozzarella so used feta. I also added garlic, basil, oregano, salt & pepper and about a ts of sugar to my dressing. It was fantastic. My daughter threw in some honey roasted macadamia nuts in her salad (instead of almonds)and it was even better.

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
made this with macaroni instead and it came out pretty good. There's not enough flavor in the pizza sauce that comes in a jar so if you're going to try this recipe I suggest you add more italian spices.

Wasabi Mayonnaise Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
Delicious. I also used the wasabi paste and eyeballed everything to taste and It came out really good. Also added a splash of shoyu (soy sauce). Next time Im going to try adding garlic powder or chopped garlic. Very good with furukaki encrusted salmon and salmon patties. ***UPDATE*** tried it with garlic powder and it was awesome. No measuring was done, just to your own taste. So I used wasabi paste, soy sauce, mayo and garlic powder. Mix and enjoy! Yumm

Spam Musubi

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
a local favorite here in Hawaii. Only thing is I don't use oyster sauce and it's not necessary to soak rice for 4 hours. I love adding furukaki on the rice too. If you don't like spam, try substituting bbq chicken or even salmon. When putting salmon, I would suggest putting it in the middle of the rice instead of laying on top of it.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
Made this a few times and it was very good with a few changes. I did add some Italian spice into the breadcrumbs and as others suggested, I used butter/olive oil combination with the garlic (did use garlic powder once and it still tasted good). It's a great recipe.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
The curry flavor was really good thanks to some reviews I followed. I cooked the curry in olive oil for a few minutes and added the onions and garlic and cooked it until onions were transparent. Then added the chicken pieces. The one thing I did change was I added 2 cups dicd tomatoes because I didn't have any stewed tomatoes or tomato sauce. It still came out tasty though. Will be making this again and will probably try adding in stewed tomatoes.

Taco Salad II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
This recipe is very good but I made a few changes thanks to some of the reviews I followed. I left out the bell pepper and used a can of sliced olives instead. I also used catalina dressing and mixed a 1/4 c into the meat mixture. Instead of tortilla chips I used Nacho flavored Doritos. I kept all the vegetables seperate too so when its time to eat we can put as much as we like in our own plates. We also topped it all off with a little ranch dressing and it was VERY tasty.

Meatloaf Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
very good but I made some changes: I didn't have onion so I used dried onion soup mix, didn't have provolone cheese so used what I had which was shredded mexican cheese, and topped it with a can of cream of mushroom. To my surprise it was pretty good
