I'm a 27-year-old reformed punk rocker that lives in the middle of nowhere with my husband, 2 pit bulls, 2 cats, and fish. I enjoy reading, volunteering for local animal rescues, spending time with my husband, going to concerts, road trips, and, of course, cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Italian foods (any and all!), baked goods, dog biscuits, good ol' homecooked old-fashioned type meals, tweaking recipes to make them quickly and cheaply
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is full blooded Italian: cookies and Italian dishes are her specialty. She's an amazing cook and I call her all the time asking for tips and tricks. I'm also trying to learn how to make more Irish foods, since my husband is Irish.
My cooking triumphs
"Poseur Puttanesca". My husband loves it. I maintain that I can throw together a meal in less than a half hour with ingredients on hand.
My cooking tragedies
None that I can recall. A few burned things here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
Took people's suggestion and used chicken broth instead of water, and while we enjoyed it, it was a bit too salty for us (and we love salt). So I am making it again today, using reduced sodium cream of chicken soup and using water instead of the chicken broth. I am also going to make my own drop biscuit dough rather than commercial biscuits. We'll see!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I
This was FREAKING AMAZING. I did the following changes, though: - doubled the recipe to accommodate the beef roast i had - didn't have Worcestershire sauce, so I threw in a splash of soy sauce and steak sauce - added salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder - left out the chopped onion - used one can of golden mushroom soup, one can of cream of mushroom - added some fresh thyme - used neufachtel cheese instead of cream cheese (lower in fat, tastes just as good)

Banana Bread Cookies
The first words out of my husband's mouth when he tasted these were expletives... THE GOOD KIND! These are delicious, but definitely add the second banana.
