Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
The smell alone got me!! I just eyeballed everything and my breasts were almost too thick so the outside got blackened, but I liked it that way. I used real garlic and sauteed garlic chips with the chicken. Love the lime and used 2 whole limes. I get so sick & tired of trying to find new chicken recipes and am thrilled with this because it is so flavorful. They also tasted great in fajitas as my husband ate them!

Southern Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
This is EXACTLY the potato salad recipe that i was looking for. I read every single recipe on this web-site and chose this one. It is simple and exactly what potato salad should taste like! No funky ingredients but very versatile to suit individual tastes. I didn't have celery so I added some shredded carrot, used red potatos and onions. Any beginner could make this and still feel confident with stylizing it to fit your taste!

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
T-E-D-I-O-U-S! Granted I am not a baker, but these took forever! I used exceptional chocolate (Gharardelli - spelling?) and just feel that I wasted it. Messy, timely and the eggs need to be double-dipped for full coverage. My family of 4 rejected them. ...sorry!...

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
I like Banana Bread but rarely make it. With this recipe, that will change! I had saved 3 recipes from this site and tried this one because I had the cream cheese and it included the cinnamon/brown sugar.....Great! I can cook alright, but I cannot bake! I used the adjustments submitted by Rachel Severson because I needed to cook in a 9 x 13 inch pan and figured I might need a little bit more substance...it was better than I anticipated! I brought it to a social function which I would never do if I thought the recipe was under par! Thanks So Much to the submitter! and to R. Severson!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
super!! now, who has a recipe for the cheese sauce to dip them in? I fell asleep while they were rising, so they rose for an hour longer than they should which might have been a good thing. when rolling, I did them all in both hands and not on the corner. I took the advice of the editor's note and I didn't even have to roll them the 2nd time. I would grab a rope and dangle it and it practically lengthened itself the rest of the way. Mine turned out perfectly! Quick and tasty! TIP: If you aren't used to making anything with yeast, it may seem these are timely but after a while you learn that you really don't count the rising time

Rotelle Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
Delicious!! So many options! Thanks So Much. Easiest Pasta salad I have made and I have a few staples...! I used bow tie pasta and skipped the vegetables because I didn't have any. We hadn't been able to buy groceries for 3 weeks and my cupboards are bare, so this recipe got us through the last day of having no money but it tasted better than the turkey ( no sides, didn't help) i made the night before! Thanks!!

Frozen Mudslide

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2006
I had the luck to be in Hawaii over 20 years ago with a young romance. I clearly remember lying by the pool with the ocean at my left and having my boyfriend bring me this "choclate ice-cream drink"...It did't last too long and I ordered them numerous times while there on the beautiful Island of Maui...Upon returning to Minnesota, I would order this drink but NO ONE knew what I was describing - the best was a white russian or black russian or a sexually named drink....After about 5 years I gave up and chalked it up to a great memory never to be re-lived. So I saw this recipe last week and thought it sounded very close to that old memory and I was not wrong!! This is fun, refreshing and different and I cannot wait to indulge my mother-in-law ! This is the only liquid that I have in my recipe file! Forget the calories because this is a drink you just have to taste!

Grilled Wonton Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2006
I marinated overnight in a bottled teriyaki sauce as I am always planning meals 1 day in advance. We really enjoyed this deli-quality recipe and is easy! The crispy wontons are easy and I made a peanut sauce just to dip them in. I don't like the oranges so I omitted those and i didn't make nearly that many sesame seeds because I find the flavor over-powering; I think I used a tablespoon. We aren't the biggest teriyaki fans and this was really b good but next time I think I will marinade in the peanut sauce. Overall, this is easy and worth a try and if you love (not just like) teriyaki then you will give it a 5-star rating!

Next-Best-Thing-To-Robert-Redford Pie

I have been making this since I was a teenager ( a long time ago )! I don't make it often but when I do, guests seem to love it. I did not like cream cheese as a youngster but this recipe looked too good not to try. This is the recipe that developed my taste for cream cheese and is like an old friend to me. You can top it with nuts or a cherry per piece as well. (Leftovers make a delighful breakfast!!)

tasty and easy! we don't eat seafood so not exactly sure what they are 'supposed' to taste like, but they are good and go with anything. My husband stopped by one day on his lunch break and took 6 back with him and he's not a parmesan cheese fan!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2006
I gave up attempting pizza crust a few years ago because I was less than successful. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this a try. My 4 year old son loved rolling out the dough and he topped the pizza. He typically doesn't like pizza, but he ate 1/2 of this! I topped the other dough with olive oil, herbs and parmesan --- I was going to serve it with steak for dinner but my husband ate it all before dinner. He really liked it! Thank you for sharing this recipe - We eat pizza approx. twice a week so this will really help to cut down our money spent on pizza. If I can do it, anyone can! FOLLOW UP: I have made it often enough that I now "know" what I am doing - I add more brown sugar and salt and I do Not let the crust rise once it is on the pizza pan because we like a thin, crispy crust...I add San Marzono tomatoes ( hard to find so I buy direct from Italy - it is required that i buy in bulk, so feel free to contact me if you are interested), "real" mozzarella and fresh basil...tastes just like the famous margherita pizza you find in the southern part of Italy!!!! CIAO/CHOW, BELLA!

Chicken Enchiladas V

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
The recipe that I have made for years is so similar that I don't want to submit a recipe that is so similar, so I will just add a few options: first, I always grill the chicken (4 or 5 chicken breasts)---It is the timeliest step but the flavor is unbeatable...I don't add seasonings, just grill the chicken. Then I cut in bite sized strips. I occasionally add olives, always add garlic powder and I top with a ton of cheddar and offer additional sour cream as a topping. They are so creamy with all the sour cream and the soup mix. I have never had anyone refuse them and while I was still dating I would make them for boyfriends. They were always impressed and delighted. For the sides, I would serve blue tortilla chips, home-made salsa and home-made blended margaritas. ole!

Macaroni and Cheese with Sausage, Peppers and Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
Honestly, I MUST have done something wrong---the sausage mixture made the macaroni and cheese sort of greasy, so we had a creamy macaroni and cheese mixed with a greasy sausage mixture. Maybe it is just because our tastebuds are not accustomed to the flavor. I felt like I had (wrongly) combined leftovers from 2 different meals - fajita meat combined with macaroni and cheese. I will keep checking the reviews on this because I am curious as to whether I did something wrong or if others agree with me. Sorry, we just did not like it and our kids would not touch it.

Italian Nutthouse Broiled Tomatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
use SEA SALT!!!! it is KEY to this recipe, believe it or not!! Try and use fresh tomatoes and you can even use tomatoe halves instead of slices....You may not consider tomatoes as a great side dish or a summer salad but in Italy it is common. I have always made it with tomatoes, sea salt and garlic oil and LOVE it - sometimes adding fresh basil but i am now going to try it with parmesan and a clove of garlic on each tomatoe half.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2006
I was so happy to try this recipe. I went to the store and got all my ingredients - and happily replaced the water with beef broth and purchased 2 packages of salad dressing mix---got home and quickly made it. But, Oh My! - I purchased ranch dressing and had already added it. Yet, it was still Really Great! I cannot wait to try it with the correct seasoning! I love that everyone can stylize their sandwich to their own tastes and will serve this for family functions to our small extended family of 12 offering condiments and croissants, a variety of cheeses and many vegetables. I am on a huge mission to add more variety to our menus and am thoroughly searching for recipes so thanks to all who add their recipes! 2/07/06: my husband is already requesting that i make this again despite my error so let me say that you might want to try it "my" way...?
