About this Cook
I'm a mom with four grown kids and "Nana" to two, little grandsons. I love cooking and trying out new recipes. My husband and I(and 3 cats) live on 30 acres in beautiful, south-eastern Wisconsin.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make casseroles, potato and pasta salads. Also, I like to bake brownies, cupcakes, bars, and muffins.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family gatherings are my favorite thing in the world. I love to have my children and grandchildren over for casual dinners. They love Mexican food so we have that often or we like to grill out and make brats, burgers, pork chops, etc. I also make 2 desserts because we all love sweets. (chocolate in particular!)
My cooking triumphs
I feel that I have become an accomplished cook over the years. I didn't start out that way, but taught myself. Since I make new recipes every week, that has helped me to develop cooking skills and I am not afraid to try something complicated. I make all kinds of homemade soups, salad dressings, baked goods, pasta dishes, casseroles, etc. My daughter told me her favorite food is anything that I make -that made me smile!
My cooking tragedies
I don't do well with homemade pie crust and admit I use the premade ones found in the dairy section of the grocery store. Also my layer cakes are sometimes lopsided, but at least they always taste good! I've had many cooking disasters in the early years, but not too often anymore.

Tater Tot Bake
My friend gave me this recipe about 10 years ago and I made it often when my kids were little. Tastes great with ketchup on it. I use ground turkey now and the healthy request cream of mushroom. Leftovers taste even better the next day!

Scrumptious Chicken
I made this tonight for the first time, and it definitely lives up to it's name. The only change I made was to use sliced provolone cheese because that is what I had on hand. My husband thought it was delicious. I served it with mashed potatoes, baby carrots, and crusty french bread. Wonderful!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
I love this recipe! It's the easiest and tastiest way to make a turkey breast. I don't know why, but when I make it, it's done before the 8 hour cook time. The meat is so tender, it falls off the bone.
