Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
So good! I used frozen tomatoes from our summer garden. I also added some whole milk. I had some leftover brown rice, so I put that in it as well. It was reminiscent of the canned variety but soooo much better. My family ravd about it. We served it with some butter crackers.

Sweet Zucchini Relish

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
So good! Wonderful way to use that zucchini that won't go away. I had to use a cup of brown sugar, because I ran out of white. I scaled the total sugar down by one cup because of that.

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
I'm updating my first review. I personally like this cornbread as is, but I thought I'd make it a little sweeter for the kids and hubby so I replaced vanilla yogurt for the sour cream and it was delicious!

Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
This was sooo good! I brought it to a family reunion and it was gone in 15 minutes. Everyone raved about it. It was a very hot day and the cool whip topping wasn't very fluffy (it melted) because of that, but it still tasted great. In hot weather I may use another type of frosting, or maybe even a glaze because I can't imagine putting anything too heavy on the cake. Thanks for a great recipe!

Yum! I had leftovers the next day with a tortilla, sour cream, and guacamole. Impressive meal with little work. Love it....

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
So good! I had to use 2% milk because that's all I had, but if I used heavy cream it certainly wouldn't decrease the rating : )

Master Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
This was easy to work with and the end result was a chewy but not too thick, soft crust. I found the flavor to be very good - not bland like some homeade doughs. Thanks for a great recipe!

Beef Stew V

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
Loved it AS IS! Great flavor and was not too soupy or thick. The reason it was perfect was because I didn't try to change the recipe. If I changed the recipe it probably would have effected the taste and thickness of the stew.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
So very good! I admit, I did substitute the oil for applesauce. I don't usually do that, but I had some applesauce to use up. It came out so moist! My whole family loved this recipe.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Loved this recipe. It tasted so good, and it is very versatile. If you only have O'brien's in the freezer - use that, if no cream of chicken, use any condensed cream soup. Use cornflakes if you have them or leave them out if you don't. Thanks for a keeper!

Magic Cookie Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
Superb! I mixed the crust with butter and then packed it down. I also used cashews, which is what I had on hand. My family can't keep out of them! We're giving to teachers this week for a gift.

Mom's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
I've tried so many "fussy" coleslaw recipes to try and get fancy. I keep coming back to this as I just can't beat it. Thank you for a great recipe. Update - I made this last night with pulled pork and added a touch of chili powder for some kick. It was really good!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
This icing is awesome! It looks so professional.... I don't usually make sugar cookies because I think they are rather time consuming to look just "ok". These look amazing. Thank you so much for a keeper!

Sour Cream Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
I really liked this recipe for cut out sugar cookies. I used the "sugar cookie icing" from JBS Box for the icing and the cookies turned out amazing! They looked so professional. The dough for me wasn't the easietst to work with, but I found the it truly needs to be chilled for a few hours. I used 1/2 confectioner's sugar and 1/2 flour to get the dough not to stick. In my opionion, any cut out cookie you make requires some common sense when working with the dough. Whatever recipe you work with, be prepared to put some time and effort into it. Also, I loved the nutmeg flavor. It reminded me of cookies from my childhood. My new stand by recipe!

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Delicious! I did add some strips of pork loin and cabbage. I doubled the sauce and added a bit of cornstarch to thicken it up. I also coated the noodles with a little sesame oil to avoid sticking. Thank you for a new family favorite.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Oh my was this good. I didn't have ham, so I cooked up some bacon. I didn't add the cooked bacon with the potato/onion/celery pot in the beginning, but half way through cooking, as I didn't want it to get too mushy. I melted the butter in the same pan that I cooked the bacon in. I did drain most of the grease. The flour, butter, milk mixture was really rich with the small amount of bacon flavor from the pan. My husband can't stop raving about this soup.

Frank's® Red Hot® Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
Love this recipe! It was the first to go at our superbowl party. Everyone wanted more... I have made this before with rotisserie chicken and I don't like it as much because it doesn't get in tiny enough shreds as the canned and it's a little dry. I normally HATE canned chicken but in this case I feel it works best.

Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie)

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I've been making this for years and I keep forgetting to rate it. I usually don't change up a recipe in a review, but after making it for so long, I thought that I would tell people that I double the phyllo, use frozen spinach (about 5 boxes), leave out the parsley, skip the green onion, use more feta, and use cottage cheese in place of ricotta. I usually put a layer of phyllo in between the spinach mixture. I also add a tad of nutmeg and sometimes dill. This recipe is very versatile and can be adjusted to so many tastes. Thank you so much to SILVERWOLF for submitting a recipe our family has enjoyed for a long time.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
Amazing! The dry consistancy threw me off too, but if you keep mixing it, the moisture of the zucchini will come out to make it more batter-like. I imagine just leaving it dry would be fine too, as the moisture will come out in the baking process. I'm excited because I can make these in the winter with all the shredded zucchini I froze and I most likely won't have to drain it too much.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
Wow, is this sauce good. I didn't realize the recipe made so much. I guess I will freeze the rest. I didn't add liquid smoke as our family hates that "fake" taste. Other than that I followed the recipe to a T and we all loved it.
