Mom's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
I've tried so many "fussy" coleslaw recipes to try and get fancy. I keep coming back to this as I just can't beat it. Thank you for a great recipe. Update - I made this last night with pulled pork and added a touch of chili powder for some kick. It was really good!

Magic Cookie Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
Superb! I mixed the crust with butter and then packed it down. I also used cashews, which is what I had on hand. My family can't keep out of them! We're giving to teachers this week for a gift.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Loved this recipe. It tasted so good, and it is very versatile. If you only have O'brien's in the freezer - use that, if no cream of chicken, use any condensed cream soup. Use cornflakes if you have them or leave them out if you don't. Thanks for a keeper!

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
So very good! I admit, I did substitute the oil for applesauce. I don't usually do that, but I had some applesauce to use up. It came out so moist! My whole family loved this recipe.

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
Yummy, but for those of us who like a little spice, a bit of cayenne would do the trick! Thanks for sharing...

Master Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
This was easy to work with and the end result was a chewy but not too thick, soft crust. I found the flavor to be very good - not bland like some homeade doughs. Thanks for a great recipe!

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
So good! I had to use 2% milk because that's all I had, but if I used heavy cream it certainly wouldn't decrease the rating : )

Hot 'n' Spicy Buffalo Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
I really loved the idea of this recipe, but I felt the chicken shouldn't have been cooked in the hot sauce and butter. I think that just tossing it with the sauce after it cooked might have coated it better. I also added a hard boiled egg and cherry tomatoes.

Yum! I had leftovers the next day with a tortilla, sour cream, and guacamole. Impressive meal with little work. Love it....

Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
This was sooo good! I brought it to a family reunion and it was gone in 15 minutes. Everyone raved about it. It was a very hot day and the cool whip topping wasn't very fluffy (it melted) because of that, but it still tasted great. In hot weather I may use another type of frosting, or maybe even a glaze because I can't imagine putting anything too heavy on the cake. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
I'm updating my first review. I personally like this cornbread as is, but I thought I'd make it a little sweeter for the kids and hubby so I replaced vanilla yogurt for the sour cream and it was delicious!

Sweet Zucchini Relish

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
So good! Wonderful way to use that zucchini that won't go away. I had to use a cup of brown sugar, because I ran out of white. I scaled the total sugar down by one cup because of that.

Sweet 'N' Tangy Freezer Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
This recipe has been used in my family for years. Love it! To make it especially pretty, use red bell pepper instead of green.

Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
We all love these pickles. I wish I could make them crisper, but I know it's because I give them the full 20 minute water bath. I'm afraid of spoilage, even though I know others have done it.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Wonderful! I love the sauce... I use it to marinate pork tenderloin, too. I also use 1/2 chili garlic sauce in place of ketchup for an extra kick. (we like spice)

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: May 22, 2010
Good texture, but very bland. The family did not care for them. I think adding more sugar and vanilla would make a big improvement. Also, if you don't have buttermilk and want to replace buttermilk for the milk, you can add a splash of white vinegar for the same result. I did not do this because I always follow the recipe as written first. I think that would be an improvement, too, however.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies from Heaven

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
My family thought the taste of this cookie was really good. However, the texture was too crumbly. I feel like the cornstarch may have been the reason why. I'm sure some people might like their cookies like this, but it was not to our family's preference. Thanks for sharing!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
Wonderful recipe. I will never buy manwich again. I was low on ketchup so i used a little bbq sauce to make up for it. I also used ground venison because that's all we eat. Thank you! I love a really good recipe that's easy but seems like I put lots of time into it!
