Zucchini Nut Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
I thought these were fabulous. I used allspice instead of cloves and cut the amount in half. I also used crushed peanuts instead of walnuts and left out the raisins. It reminds me of windmill cookies I had when I was younger.

Zucchini Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I fooled the whole family! Excellent. I wish I could find a lower fat version for the crust, however. I need to play around with it. It's five star as is, for sure.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
Doesn't need the brown sugar and definitely needs some worcestershire and possibly a splash of vinegar. When using a ketchup base, it makes it too sweet for brown sugar. I do use brown sugar when making a tomato paste base recipe. I thought this one looked really easy, so I made it instead of my stand by as I was in a time crunch.

Basic Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Excellent! The texture is what we have been looking for. The top rated pizza crusts from this website can't beat it. It cooks perfectly - crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle. I find the other recipes stay "doughy" in the middle and I can't cook it more because the top would burn. I used garlic salt instead of regular salt and doubled the amount based on the "bland" comments. It was perfect! After making this a few times, I wanted to add that after baking and right before serving, we like to brush the crust with melted butter mixed with a little garlic salt. My family likes this pizza better than take out!

Lemon Pie Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
The best lemon bars I have ever made. It was the perfect amount of tartness. I found that the crust and filling ratio was right on. That said, if you don't find the ratio to your personal liking, simply adjust! I took this to my 83 year old grandmothers today and made her day. She loved them!

Tender Pork Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
So Good! The whole family loved it. I followed the recipe as stated, but added onion rings and whole cloves of garlic. I thickened it at the end with a cornstarch slurry after I removed the pork. I served over rice with a side of frozen green beans from the garden. I will keep this in my rotation, for sure!

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
Awesome! I added bok choy and left out water chestnuts because that's what I had in the house. The sauce was a bit thick, but easily thinned out with a little water. I also used boneless chicken thighs, as I like the texture in a stir-fry type dish. Thanks for a keeper!

Marinated Mushrooms with Red Bell Peppers

I didn't think the water was necessary. It lacked a little flavor.

Potato Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Yummy! I baked at 375 for 30 minutes for a low fat meal. I did need some lemon juice for flavor after it cooked. I might use it in the mix next time.

Cabbage and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
I made this to go with my St. Patty's Day Corned Beef. I cooked the dumplings in the juice of the corned beef that cooked in the crockpot all day. Delish!

Banana Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Really good! The only change I made was to use butter instead of shortening, because I always feel shortening gives an "after-taste" in a cookie.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
Wow, is this sauce good. I didn't realize the recipe made so much. I guess I will freeze the rest. I didn't add liquid smoke as our family hates that "fake" taste. Other than that I followed the recipe to a T and we all loved it.

Dessert Crepes

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
Excellent flavor, but without using a blender or mixer, the batter turns out lumpy. The recipe should state this. (unless I somehow did something wrong). Regardless, the kids loved them and I will put in my recipe box. Next time I'll use my mixer/blender. Stuffed with leftover fruit salad and vanilla yogurt. Topped with homeade blackberry syrup.

Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie)

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I've been making this for years and I keep forgetting to rate it. I usually don't change up a recipe in a review, but after making it for so long, I thought that I would tell people that I double the phyllo, use frozen spinach (about 5 boxes), leave out the parsley, skip the green onion, use more feta, and use cottage cheese in place of ricotta. I usually put a layer of phyllo in between the spinach mixture. I also add a tad of nutmeg and sometimes dill. This recipe is very versatile and can be adjusted to so many tastes. Thank you so much to SILVERWOLF for submitting a recipe our family has enjoyed for a long time.

Frank's® Red Hot® Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
Love this recipe! It was the first to go at our superbowl party. Everyone wanted more... I have made this before with rotisserie chicken and I don't like it as much because it doesn't get in tiny enough shreds as the canned and it's a little dry. I normally HATE canned chicken but in this case I feel it works best.

5-Layer Mexican Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
very blah... I think it needs a sour cream/cream cheese/light taco seasoning mixture in place of the plain sour cream. the rest of the toppings were perfect, however. I especially like that it didn't include lettuce. I hate lettuce in a taco dip.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Delicious! I did add some strips of pork loin and cabbage. I doubled the sauce and added a bit of cornstarch to thicken it up. I also coated the noodles with a little sesame oil to avoid sticking. Thank you for a new family favorite.

Sour Cream Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
I really liked this recipe for cut out sugar cookies. I used the "sugar cookie icing" from JBS Box for the icing and the cookies turned out amazing! They looked so professional. The dough for me wasn't the easietst to work with, but I found the it truly needs to be chilled for a few hours. I used 1/2 confectioner's sugar and 1/2 flour to get the dough not to stick. In my opionion, any cut out cookie you make requires some common sense when working with the dough. Whatever recipe you work with, be prepared to put some time and effort into it. Also, I loved the nutmeg flavor. It reminded me of cookies from my childhood. My new stand by recipe!

Sugar Cookie Icing

This icing is awesome! It looks so professional.... I don't usually make sugar cookies because I think they are rather time consuming to look just "ok". These look amazing. Thank you so much for a keeper!
