Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
So good! I used frozen tomatoes from our summer garden. I also added some whole milk. I had some leftover brown rice, so I put that in it as well. It was reminiscent of the canned variety but soooo much better. My family ravd about it. We served it with some butter crackers.

Sweet and Tangy Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
Love it! I added some sharp grated cheddar and used halved red grapes because I didn't have raisins. I think next time I will throw in some sunflower seeds.

Beef Stew V

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
Loved it AS IS! Great flavor and was not too soupy or thick. The reason it was perfect was because I didn't try to change the recipe. If I changed the recipe it probably would have effected the taste and thickness of the stew.

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
Perfect! I added some peanut butter chocolate chips and it was wonderful! You don't need them, though. If you want a breakfast bread I wouldn't add them

Thai Chicken Spring Rolls

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
This is a great recipe. I personally don't like watercress in it, but this recipe is so versatile to suit different tastes. I would strongly recommend using chicken thighs, however. They should be cut very fine. I also like to sprinkle some crushed peanuts in each one. Sometimes I put some fresh cucumber in it too.

Surprise Apple Salad

I add vanilla pudding to the cool whip - I think it's necessary. It is a crowd pleaser, for sure. It always gets lots of compliments!

Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I made this for a chocolate lover and thought it would be perfect. I loved the moistness/texture, but it was really way too rich for even the chocolate lover. Since it was such a great texture, I think I'll try to change it up a little. Maybe no chocolate chips and vanilla pudding.

Hearty Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
Needs more seasoning, for sure. Very bland. I loved the barley in this soup, but the corn was not appealing to my family.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
Excellent! I followed a reviewers suggestion and cut the cream cheese and butter in half and still used the 2 cups sugar. I also added another 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. I'm not sure how it would taste exactly as written, but I wanted to frost a 9x13 pan and this reviewer said it was the perfect amount for that. They were right!

Crusty French Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
This was the best bread that I have ever made. I have been trying to make a bread like this for about five years. I finally found the texture that my family has been looking for. I don't necessarily think I want this for a "french bread", but the texture was perfect for a sandwich, not only the day I made it, but in the following days. The other recipes I have made from this site are really good, but they crumble and are unuseable the next day for a hearty sandwich. This recipe stays really soft on the inside, and does not fall apart like other breads. I doubled the recipe, and put both loaves on a baking sheet. Thank you so much!

Orange Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
Yum! A new way for my kids to eat their veggies! Served it with a spinach salad with fresh raspberries and blueberries, and sunflower seeds. The adults enjoyed feta too. I did add a tiny bit of oil to make it stick, and sprinkled some ginger too. I used a freshly squeezed orange for the juice. Thank you!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
Excellent! Easy to work with... My daughter asked for them for her school birthday treat. Definately use the shortening for a smoother consistancy and a shinier presentation. I tried them with and without. It was easier to work with when shortening was used as well.

Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
Yum! This recipe would be awesome as is, but I did change it up based on what I had at home. Although I doubled the recipe, I only used one pound italian sausage (no ground beef) , and I put half the cheese in the mixture and the other half on top. Of course I used two pans. I also used diced bell pepper from the garden and garlic. I added fresh basil too. Amazingly good! Thanks!

Green Chicken Enchilada

This really needs a cream base for the sauce, in my opinion. It tastes ok, but could jazz it up alot with not much more work.

Glazed Apple Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Wow! Tasted so good and made the house smell amazing... Perfect recipe for a cool fall morning. I used 1 /2 shortening and 1/2 butter. I didn't add raisins because my kids begged me not to :) I made the glaze and really loved it, but I didn't use it for all the cookies, as they didn't really need it.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Oh my was this good. I didn't have ham, so I cooked up some bacon. I didn't add the cooked bacon with the potato/onion/celery pot in the beginning, but half way through cooking, as I didn't want it to get too mushy. I melted the butter in the same pan that I cooked the bacon in. I did drain most of the grease. The flour, butter, milk mixture was really rich with the small amount of bacon flavor from the pan. My husband can't stop raving about this soup.

Really, really good! I suggest adding frozen peas at the end. I was pleasantly surprised at how much it tasted like our favorite restaurant because the ingredients were so basic. Thank you!

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
I had high hopes for this recipe, but it did not impress me or my family at all. The batter seemed way too thin, which I'm guessing is the reason why it wasn't a fluffy pancake. It was also way too salty. In my opinion the baking soda was not necessary.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
Amazing! The dry consistancy threw me off too, but if you keep mixing it, the moisture of the zucchini will come out to make it more batter-like. I imagine just leaving it dry would be fine too, as the moisture will come out in the baking process. I'm excited because I can make these in the winter with all the shredded zucchini I froze and I most likely won't have to drain it too much.

Crustless Zucchini Pie

This was so good! I sauted the onions along with a couple garlic cloves first. Instead of parsley I used a little basil, and I added just a tiny bit of prepared horseradish. Loved it!
