About this Cook
I'm a full-time mother, wife and musician. I work at home, at church, play shows and write music. Then I go home and cook!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - I like to experiment with different cookies and cakes. My 5yo son loves to help me with that. I'm also interested in time-saving cooking, like slow-cooking and foil packets. Meal planning is a real help to my family too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love visiting my family - we all like to hang out in the kitchen and help the cook! We also love to grill or cook over an open fire. We also own a crawfish farm - I love crawfish! Fried crawfish tails are the best, followed by boiled.
My cooking triumphs
A friend and I made a 25th Anniversary cake with 6 tiers and fully decorated. It looked great. I've also done some very nice birthday cakes, including a carousel for my daughter's 4th birthday.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make my boyfriend (now husband of 13 years) a Chicken Creole - and I'm still not sure what happened. It was so salty! We couldn't even eat it. Fortunately, that was not the first time I cooked for him, so he wasn't scared away!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
This was a great cookie! It really hit the spot for my family tonight. They were soft and chewy, but not too puffy! Just right!

Brown Butter Cookies
These have to be one of my favorite cookies! Browning the butter doesn't take too much extra time, but it adds a wonderful nutty flavor - and I LOVE these cookies! Did I mention that I love them? I have never made the icing, but they are so good by themselves that I've never needed to.

Grandma Johnson's Scones
My family loves these scones! I found it when I was trying to copy a local bakery's scone recipe. So, I add cinammon to my dough, maybe 1/2 tsp. Then sprinkle the top with a little cinnamon and raw sugar. They are fantastic and my husband requests them for breakfast all the time!
