Sunday Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
this was our Christmas breakfast this morning, very good I too partially cooked the hashbrowns in the dish first, I precooked turkey sausages, sliced them and made a layer over the hashbrowns before pouring the egg mixture over it, I also added sliced mushrooms. the only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the dill did'nt really add much too it, I'd use another herb next time. Thank you to the origional poster for this recipe, my SIL always makes the wife saver recipe and it never sits well with me, too much white bread for my system, this recipe is a definate keeper.

Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
I made this today useing sirlion chunks, I prepared it early in the day to the point at which everything got put into the casserole dish, then stuck it in the fridge. Wow awesome flavor, the only thing I did different was just at the last add a can of whole button mushrooms. We had it with red skin mashed tatoes, the gravey was lovely. I roasted red peppers, next time, I'll do that but then add them right into the casserole before serving. Only gave it 4 stars only because I don't rate any recipe that uses canned soup a "5". I'd rather not use it, but sometimes it does come in handy on a busy weekday.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IX

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Very good for useing oil, I would of liked them to spread out more but I guess butter/marg does that best. Next time I'd cut back on the raisens, 1 cup was too many, they did'nt mix in well enough with the batter. I'd make them again for the point of cutting out the bad fats.

Vegetable Pasties

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
This rating is based on the pastry only as I did my own thing for the filling. It turned out lovely, I followed it exactly, tender and a deep golden colour, amount was bang on 8 huge ones. Hubby and 2 adult sons were very impressed ( I can see fights for the leftover ones!)

Asian Ginger Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
Excellent, I made this last night to go over a Green stuff only salad.I took the advice of another reviewer and used 1/4 cup of sesame oil. I have been looking for a recipe that was as good as the dressing used in the chinese noodle cabbage salad, but with out all the sugar most of them call for. I used low sodium soy and it worked fine. This fits the bill. Thank you

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
Turned out very nice! Before I baked it I tasted the batter, not enough spice for us, I added 1/2 tsp of coriander and a tsp of ginger. Also followed the 1 cup of oil advice and I cut the sugar to 3 cups. I got 2 good size loaves, and 12 muffins ( I added chunks of white chocolate to the muffins) Great! A nice time of year to make this, one loaf will go to work with me this week for a Halloween treat.

Baked Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
Made this for last night's turkey dinner. Everyone like it, it had a good balance of tart/sweetness. I read a few ratings about it failing so I checked other recipes done the same way and them mentioned to stir it to stop the sugar from crusting on the bottom, came out great. I used 1 3/4 C sugar, 1/4 tsp.grated nutmeg and I reluctantly added all the called for Brandy. Once it had chilled well the brandy flavor lightened up somewhat, So I was pleased. Simple and quick.

Spinach Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2007
Turned out awesome, took others suggestion to use sour cream, less milk.Plus once I had started to prepare them I realized I did not have the spinach! So I chopped up brocolli and lightly steamed it before adding it to the mixture. A keeper. Thank you

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2006
Oh it was great!! Made minor changes to the methods, I just coated teh beef strips in cornstarch then quickly stir fried them in sesame oil. Added shrimp and blanched thinly sliced carrots and yellow pepper strips ( I use lots of veggies for my meals) with the brocolli. It was enjoyed by all, will make it for company.

Pork Chop Suey

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
My family enjoyed it, but I felt it needed more zip, I did use low sodium soy and chicken broth, it may have taken away some flavor.
