Boston Cream Pie II

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
Amazing!! My family and I loved it. After reading some other reviews, I was sure to put some parchment on the bottom of the cake pan. It didn't stick at all and I had no problem splitting it in 2 like many other people did. You just have to be sure the cake is cooled completly before splitting it or else it really is difficult. I made the custard earlier in the day, cooled it, and then refrigerated it for a few hours. It set up perfectly. I also thought the glaze was great. Mine took a little more than 2 T water to make it the right consistancy. This recipe is a bit of a process, but definitly worth it. However, I wouldn't suggest making this if you are a first time baker.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
I didn't really like these. Not much pumpkin flavor, and I thought the amount of chocolate chips contributed to this. I made the recipe to the T, so I doubt I will try them again.

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
Awesome! I left out the pecans and did 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce and 3/4 cup oil. I just couldn't put all that oil in it. It turned out really moist and delicious. Next time, I'll probably just use 1 cup of applesauce and no oil. Oh, and beware, because it makes A LOT of frosting (at least for my taste)Really good overall!

Peanut Butter Cookies IX

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
These are so good! I made the recipe to the 'T' except I used all AP flour. Some people thought they were too sweet, but I thought they were perfectly sweet. The texture is great, and unlike many cookie recipes that use 2 sticks of butter, this only calls for one, so maybe they're a little better for ya too! ( ;

Rhubarb Cobbler

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
Almost as good as Grandma's! I've been looking for a good rhubarb cobbler recipe, and this was very tasty. The only thing is, like many other people said, there was too much topping in comparison to the filling. Next time, I'll make more filling (maybe even double it) I also added a few tablespoons more sugar to the filling mostly because the rhubarb is just coming out in the store, and I figured it might be tart. Good recipe overall.

Spinach Frittata with Tomatoes and Goat Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
Good recipe. I added some bell pepper and onion to this. I didn't have any goat cheese, so I just used parmesan. Also, in place of the frozen spinach, I used some fresh and it turned out great. Mine took longer to bake, more like 17-18 minutes, but it was probably due to the variations I made on the recipe. Really easy and tasty!

Asian Bok Choy Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
I think this recipe is a good starting point for a salad like this, but it needs some serious work. To me, bok choy is just better when sauteed or stir fried. I would slightly cook the bok choy with the green onions. I would also toast the pine nuts to give them a better flavor. The dressing needs some more kick, like red pepper flakes and garlic. With some additions, this healthy salad would be better.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2006
So good! I too used 1/2 brown sugar and they turned out great. I think these cookies would be great even without the chocolate chips, maybe with a little powdered sugar on top. Either way, these are a hit!

Anchovy Linguine

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
So good! When I make this, I double the garlic (7 or 8 cloves) and just use one can of anchovies. I also add red pepper flakes. Its an awesome dish, but pretty rich. I usually serve it with a salad or as a side dish to chicken.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
These cookies were pretty good. I've made tons of cookies in the past, but not many peanut butter chocolate chip. I guess I expected them to be really rich and sinful tasting, but I was somewhat disappointed. The peanut butter wasn't a very strong taste, and I thought they were a little too dry. Like other people said, adding more peanut butter and less flour might help. Good tasting cookie, but I think I'll keep looking.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2006
Yum! These cupcakes are definitely more dark chocolate tasting rather than the conventional sweet cupcake taste. I guess it depends on the cocoa you use. The cocoa I used was a combo of Dutch process and natural cocoa. I didn't make these with frosting, just sprinkled some powdered sugar on top. Everyone said they loved them without frosting.

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
My dog loved these! I didn't have any beef bouillon, so instead of the milk, I used beef broth. They turned out great. I have to admit I sampled these to see what they tasted like. I think next time I will use the beef bouillon to get a stronger flavor, but my dog loved them without it!
