Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
I used a picnic ham, followed the instructions minus a bit of the sugar and it was absolutely perfect! The whole family loved it and the leftovers were marvelous! I will definitely make this again. By the way...we are not ham lovers, but this recipe may have changed that.

Easy Creamy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2006
If you are looking for an easy but quite ordinary recipe, then this is the one for you. The pork tenderloin is wonderfully tender, but this cut usually is. The soups make for an o.k. gravy, but as is, this recipe is not as outstanding as some say. You would and should modify it by adding spices and vegetables. I expected more. Although we enjoyed this ho-hum meal, I will not make it again.

Pork Chops with Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2006
The pork was tender and flavourful with the spices. The sauce served under the pork was a big hit with my family. The raspberry sauce is a great combination with the pork. I may try the sauce when I grill my pork chops too. This is a pretty quick and easy recipe...a keeper!

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2006
Wasn't impressed. My husband enjoyed it though. I will not make this again. The fish has a poached texture and perhaps this turned me off. I think I prefer that texture with salmon or trout but not white fish.

Onion Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2006
I went out and bought the Calrose rice specifically to make this recipe. Although I enjoyed the flavour of this rice I was not a fan of the risotto-style texture. Anybody want my leftover bag?

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2006
Although my children loved the chicken, I found it overcooked. The flavour was quite good, but if I did make it again, I would thicken the sauce. I would also use boneless chicken breasts only because it was not pleasant when the chicken fell into a million pieces. This recipe has potential, but you may have to play with it a bit.

Spicy Red Snapper

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2006
We loved this recipe. It wasn't too spicy, it was just right. I served it with broccoli, pasta and a salad for a nice light dinner. The fish had a wonderful texture. I think I will follow another reviewer's advice and add a bit of tomato paste to thicken the sauce or perhaps just omit the wine.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
Although I loved the taste of the pork and the sauce, I will definitely use thicker pork chops because they were quite dry. I am sure this recipe will merit the full 5 stars once I change the thickness. I will also try as someone suggested to add peppers and onions to make it even more visually appealing as well as tastier. Enjoy!

White Chocolate Blondies

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
Although they tasted good, I did not like the texture of these bars. The toothpick came out clean, but they were definitely undercooked. Will not make this again.

Pasta Shells with Portobello Mushrooms and Asparagus in Boursin Sauce

Reviewed: May 3, 2006
I enjoyed this recipe, but I don't think I will make it again. It was o.k. as a side dish, but it was a bit overpowering with the mushroom taste. It is a costly recipe, and perhaps not worth it. I must mention that I am not the ultimate pasta fan, so please take that into consideration. It cost almost $6.00 for the mushrooms and another $5.00+ just for the Boursin cheese. The pepper cheese just gave it a nice spiciness. I love pepper! Perhaps a little garlic would give it a little more oomph... It is an easy recipe though but not the nicest looking pasta dish to serve. Everything takes on the mushroom color.

Banana Cake VII

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2006
I would rate this 4 1/2 stars but I am sure once I cut the sugar to 3/4 cup or maybe even 1/2 cup it will be a 5 star recipe. I made it in the two 9 inch pans and as many mentioned, it does not rise very much. I cut each 9 inch cake in two (horizontally) and whipped up 2 cups of whipping cream with a splash of vanilla to top each layer and spread over the top of cake. It was absolutely delicious. I served it with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and it was a big hit.

Pasta Primavera Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
The only thing I changed in this recipe was add mushrooms. It was absolutely perfect. The leftovers were just as tasty. I will definitely make this again. Sprinkle with parmesan and chili flakes for some extra zing! Wow!

We very much enjoyed this salad. It was a very refreshing side dish to our supper.

Mediterranean Summer Tomatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
Perfect side dish instead of a salad. I also had two warm multigrain baguettes that we enjoyed dipping in the dressing. Yum! I also added fresh garden cucumber slices around the serving tray and it just added to the presentation and tastiness.

Peking Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
I used very thick hotel cut chops. I think I over cooked them slightly (5 hours) but the flavour was wonderful. It almost reminded me of what good ribs would taste like. My husband and kids loved them which means I will definitely make this easy recipe again.

Octoberfest German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2006
I enjoyed this potato salad but I will tweak it a bit as I found it too liquidy. I think by cutting the vinegar a bit it will help.

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
I followed this recipe exactly as written except for 8 people (therefore doubled). It surpassed my expectations! Everyone loved them. I cut te potatoes in large chunks instead of cubes, but the ingredients were all the same as written. The crushed red pepper flakes add a nice zing. I will definitely make this again and again without hesitation. It took approximately 30 minutes and I turned them over every 10 minutes or so.

Caribbean-Spiced Roast Chicken

This was just o.k. for me. I am not a fan of sweet meat and I didn't find the chicken tender enough. I will not make this recipe again.

Beurk! We did not like this at all compared to the lasagna that I usually make. Sorry! I couldn't even finish my plate.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
It was "o.k.", but I think I prefer steamed brussel sprouts as is. I guess I am just boring. I find they were a little to burnt tasting for my liking and my daughter absolutely hated them. Sorry!
