About this Cook
Wife and Mother to two young boys. Currently a SAHM but have worked in counseling and nursing. I am passionate about helping others. My hobbies usually include creating things with my hands...food included.
My favorite things to cook
Ethnic foods, breads, desserts and new interesting recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always make Mexican food for Christmas eve and Biscuits and Gravy when camping. I have adapted traditional Hawaiian and Chinese dishes passed down from my husband's native Hawaiian grandfather.
My cooking triumphs
Recreating a dish, sauce or anything else just by tasting and figuring out what is in the "secret recipe." After my experimenting, I have some great copycat recipes in my collection.
My cooking tragedies
I seem to always burn the last batch of cookies!

Whole Wheat Cut Out Cookies
I ended up having to add an extra cup of flour because the dough was just too sticky. I also added a bit of salt because I enjoy the taste salt adds to a cookie. Taste was wonderful and wholesome. The toddlers I made them for gobbled them up! Next time I may try substituting applesause for part of the butter to make them even healthier.

Big Smokey Burgers
We LOVE this recipe and have even used it with ground turkey. I didn't follow the recipe exactly as I didn't have chipotle sauce or peppers. And, after the first time, I also decreased the liquid smoke to 1 tsp because it seemed to be a little strong. Amazing!

Light Oat Bread
Didn't need all of the flour. Great texture and doesn't dry out like other breads I've made. The only complaint was lack of flavor. I may try adding honey and a little powdered milk next time.
