About this Cook
I'm not old I'm just a recycled teenager at heart. Led Zeppelin all the way with a bit of Aerosmith,Queen, U2 and Elvis mixed in. I learned to cook watching my mom she has a German/romanian background and my father has a Italian background with this European flair my mom would always cook up a storm. German Romanian Italian Spanish even Chinese. Plus all the daily baking my mom did that she learned from her mom. I love the Allrecipe website I look at it daily for ideas. My family quite enjoys something different and i try to provide this on a daily basis, we have our family favorites but i try to get a new recipe in a least a few times a week.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing is to bake something everyday for my 4 kids. I love to try new recipes daily for dinner. My downfall is i never really stick to the recipe i always seem to add other items, sometimes its a good thing sometimes its not. But my kids are the testers. they keep me in line.They tell me if its a go or a no go.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother cooked everything for us from German, Italian to a bit of Asian. She baked up a storm everyday their was nothing like coming home to home baked snacks after school.
My cooking triumphs
My baking skills i have perfected lots of cookies and also a mean cheesecake. I have made a few in my time different flavors. They are not as hard as some people think.
My cooking tragedies
I cannot bake buns they always seem to turn out either too hard or soft but no taste?? But I will keep on trying.

Pierogi Casserole
great recipe. I changed it up a bit though. For the potatoes. I boiled 3 potatoes, 1 cup yam cut up, 1 cup cauliflower, 2 small carrots, 1 sweet potato and 1 cup butternut squash. boil off the mixture and mash like you would just plain potatoes add butter and sour cream salt and pepper. I have been making my potatoes like this for years just so the kids get extra veggies. Set potatoes aside. I browned some garlic and shallots I also browned some turkey bacon and some pork sausages. set all aside Layering first layer noodles sauerkraut onion garlic mixture cheddar cheese sour cream 2nd layer noodles, potatoe mixture cheddar cheese sour cream 3rd layer noodles potatoe cheddar cheese sour cream last layer the top noodles sausage bacon mixture onion garlic mixture cheddar cheese and sour cream i covered the dish with tin foil baked 1 hr on 300 It was delicious my kids really did not like the sauerkraut but they still ate it. thanks for the recipe.

Wonton Soup
I used pork hamburger instead of pork loin. I mixed the pork hamburger with the chopped shrimp,I added 1/2 tsp soy sauce, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, 1/2 can chopped water chesnuts,1 sliver fresh ginger, 1 tsp sugar, 3 green onion, salt and white pepper 1 tsp. mixed this all up made the wontons I boiled them separately and set aside. I added to the chicken broth BBQ pork chopped, green onion, carrot that i cut into florets, baby bok choy and bean sprouts. Boiled this until the veggies were almost done. add salt and pepper to taste. When I serve the soup I serve the broth and then each person can add their own wontons to as many as they would like. I found if i boiled the wontons in the soup broth it made the broth too thick this way if there are any left over wontons they can just be reheated separately again as the broth. I find the wontons also fall apart if cooked in the broth. I hope this helps my 6 and 7 year old love to help make the wontons.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I
This recipe is great. I made a few changes I used organic rolled oats I added 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice, for the raisins I used organic jumbo thompson and increased them to 1 1/2 cups. baked until just brown around the edges. Yum my 7 year old loves them.
